Job Description:

The purpose of the role is to ensure incoming stock is checked thoroughly for compliance to the companies’ high standards, booking in with a set timeframe and accurate record keeping. The role involves working closely with procurement, sales, and dispatch to ensure that as a team they can deliver great service to their clients.

Main Duties:
  • Plan and execute the unpacking and standing down of stock.
  • Unloading lorries.
  • Managing incoming goods and organise appropriate team members.
  • Ensuring company quality standards are adhered to.
  • Report to the line manager on progress against targets and any issues arising and possible solutions.
  • Understanding and implementing health and safety, environmental and other regulatory procedures when necessary.

Job Description:

The purpose of the role is to assist the sales team in developing and growing sales through the Cash 7 Carry unit and build sales into the local landscaping marketplace. Training and development will be given to allow the right candidate to develop their career.

Main Duties:
  • Growing existing accounts.
  • Generating new clients and promoting the business in the local area.
  • Assisting clients with their purchases on the Cash & Carry with suitable plant selections.

Our client has been established for over 40 years and currently occupies an area of more than 7 acres. The company provides the wholesale supply and distribution of hardy shrubs, trees and ornamental plants to the nursery, garden centre, architectural, design and landscaping sectors.

Candidates will work alongside an existing team and accept responsibility for the wellbeing of all trees and shrubs on the nursery. The daily routine will involve inspecting all plants to ensure plants are healthy, pest and disease is monitored and managed effectively, irrigation is performed efficiently and any issues with regards to the automated watering system are reported and resolved before any further issues arise. Ideal candidates will be comfortable with the maintenance and operation of the bore hole and pump house daily. On occasions the successful candidate may be required to assist in other areas including plant nutrition and pruning.

The successful candidate will possess PA1 & PA6 spraying certificates and a strong knowledge of ornamental trees and shrubs to ensure that all plant stock is labelled correctly.

The position is a full-time permanent role, offering a competitive salary circa £28,000 depending on experience. The annual leave is 33 days holiday including bank holidays. The working day 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday with some weekend hours and overtime available during busier periods.

A rare and exciting full-time opportunity has arisen for a passionate and self-motivated Skilled Gardener to join a small team on a beautiful Hotel in Florence, Italy.

This lovely quaint hotel has approximately 3,000m2 gardens for the guests to enjoy and stroll amongst flowers, through the secret passages and hidden corners, with incredible views of Florence from the hill. The gardens are modelled on an English Country Garden and consist of mixed and herbaceous beds and borders including an intensely planted 20-meter border.  The hotel also an organic vegetable garden that provides fresh fruits and vegetables for breakfast and snacks for by the pool.

The pool area is currently being developed with a planting scheme to create a spectacular setting with the aim to be ready by Easter. The owner of the hotel is looking for an ambitious and driven skilled gardener to continue to grow as a horticulturalist on this beautiful garden.

The ideal candidate will have good all-rounded horticultural knowledge either from years of experience or, shorter experience with relevant qualifications. They will have a ‘can do attitude’ and be friendly and clear in communication when dealing with others. It is not essential that applicants speak Italian however, it would be advantageous to help with settling in Florence.

The role will entail general maintenance of the garden to a high horticultural standard such as the border maintenance, pruning, weeding, kitchen gardening, mowing, strimming, and hedge cutting as well as continuing to enhance and develop the gardens by carrying out planting improvements. Experience with operate and maintain a range of garden machinery as well as using a chainsaw would be advantageous.

The position comes with onsite accommodation, a studio apartment with electricity and heating paid which is suitable for single occupancy. The client is also open to a gardener / housekeeper couple where the housekeeper will work in the hotel on a full-time basis.

Skilled Gardener

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced gardener to join a close estate team on a beautiful private property in Central Dorset, on a full-time basis. Applicants will ideally hold horticultural qualifications, preferably at Level 2 or above, similarly at least 3 years of demonstrable experience of working in an estate environment.

The rural property is situated in a beautiful location, approximately 20-miles from the Dorset coast.  The historic main house is surrounded by formal gardens with parkland, mature trees and managed paddocks beyond.  Within the estate a small team of staff ensure the smooth running of the grounds, of which the successful applicant will play an integral part. The 100-acre estate houses a variety of formal gardens including ornamental bedding, borders and lawns, a glasshouse, walled vegetable garden, a swimming pool, 2 lake’s, an orchard and mature trees throughout.  This position will require applicants to have a good understanding of, and experience in kitchen gardening, as a wide variety of produce is grown for the house on an ongoing basis, along with a comprehensive plant knowledge and the maintenance of to provide the estate with fresh cut flowers.   

The Gardener will play an important role in ensuring the formal gardens are maintained to high standards while working closely alongside the wider team, that include the Head Gardener, a full time Groundsman and a part time colleague. The owner of the property is passionate about the gardens and is very much involved in the overall direction of the gardens in relation to the changing requirements of the estate.

Suitable applicants for this role will have experience of working within a private estate environment from a hands-on perspective. Applicants should have good plant identification skills, excellent attention to detail and a methodological approach to their work.  Demonstrable experience in kitchen gardening and plant propagation/glasshouse work is essential, as is competency in the operation and basic maintenance of garden machinery.  Spraying qualifications (PA1/PA6), an in-date First Aid certificate, and chainsaw certificate would be desirable, though training can be provided in the areas necessary for otherwise suitable candidates. The position would suit an enthusiastic gardener with experience on private estates and the ambition to continue to build on their existing skills and knowledge on a daily basis.

The incredible grade II listed property is surrounded by 750 acres with stunning expansive views over the valley, river and lake and has one of the finest gardens in the Cotswolds. The 22-acre garden is made up of different areas which include elegant formal gardens with fine herbaceous planting, terraced lawns, lily ponds, landscaped hillside stream gardens and massed plantings of spring bulbs, heathers, flowering shrubs and rhododendrons. Also, a large walled kitchen garden which is currently being restored. All of the gardens are interspersed by the finest mature specimen trees and water features.

The successful applicant will join the existing team of 6 in the upkeep and maintenance of the gardens to a high horticultural standard. Candidates will ideally have experience in the above areas of horticulture and be dedicated gardeners with the willingness to undertake additional garden estate duties if required. He / She will ideally have the confidence in pruning methods, i.e. of wisteria and roses, and have good horticultural knowledge and plant identification skills overall. Applicants must be physically fit and confident in the operation of a range of garden machinery. 

An academic horticultural qualification would be advantageous and well-rounded experience in a similar hands-on role. Candidates should hold a full driving licence, your own transport for commuting to and from site and ideally, spray tickets (PA1/PA6).  A chainsaw licence would be beneficial. 

The role would suit someone who is hard-working, flexible, with a positive attitude and an ability to follow instructions from a Head Gardener to a high degree of detail.  Excellent attention to detail and a genuine enthusiasm for gardening and horticulture.
