Based on their current order book our client will exceed £600k turnover and they intend to expand to accommodate additional work over the coming months.

Operating in cooperation with established and award-winning Designers, the majority of their work comprises of medium to large scale domestic projects involving complete garden makeovers using high quality materials to achieve unique aesthetic solutions.

Having achieved a continuity of work over the last 4 years the company is now in a position to expand and extend its area of operations.

Their operating model has, to date, required no advertising or promotional activity due to their close relationship with independent designers, and they have been in a position of late where they have had to turn work away due to lack of appropriate resource.

It is apparent that they should now take advantage of this secure work base and expand activity by appointing an experienced hard landscaper.

Job Description

The job requires someone with an understanding and skills in all aspects of landscape activities including brick, stone, paving and wood work with the ability to accurately set out levels and locations, operate diggers, breakers and other mechanical tools, and supervise concrete deliveries etc.

Key Skills

The candidate should be self-motivating with a can-do attitude.

This is a hands-on role involving all activities required to complete significant projects.

As the company expands this individual should be able and willing to run a site and installation team with minimal supervision, communicate well with clients and cooperate with the designers who are generally responsible for final acceptance of the finished project.

The candidate should have a full driving licence and own vehicle.

Additional Information

The area of operation is generally the North, West and South London and associated home counties (Oxford, Bucks Berks, Surrey) etc. Where practical and economically viable other areas will be considered. (They currently have a project being completed in South Cambridge for example.).

A unique opportunity for an experienced Sole Gardener has just become available for an equally unique modern private estate, situated in an area of outstanding beauty. The grounds are set within 130 acres of farmland, pasture and beech woods. The garden contains 4/5 acres of lawn with a 0.2 acre walled vegetable garden and greenhouse for propagating and growing produce for the family.

The owner is currently seeking a full time Sole Gardener to join the small dedicated team of staff on the estate, which includes a housekeeper and hands-on Estate Manager, the latter of whom will provide assistance to the Sole Gardener when required. Suitable candidates must have good practical skills, be able to operate and maintain large machinery, have previous work experience in propagating, growing vegetables and woodland maintenance.  The successful candidate will be able to carry out work to a high standard with no supervision in a tidy efficient manner with a professional approach.  Formal gardening qualifications are preferred, but not mandatory.

The majority of the work will be within the walled garden, but candidates must also be willing to undertake grounds keeping to include mowing, strimming, tree maintenance, hedge cutting etc. The owner spends part of the year overseas, so the availability of flowers and produce from the garden must coincide with her being in the UK.

The owner is keen to promote a friendly and rewarding working environment, so it is important that you have a positive attitude with good communication skills and are able to get on well with all other staff members.
