Experience in a landscape operations management role, managing multiple installation teams and multiple projects is a must.
This role bridges the gap between the sales surveyors who win projects & the onsite installation teams. The key purpose of the role is to provide leadership & support to installation staff.
It will require exceptional leadership & organisational skills to ensure projects are profitable and run to time. The candidate will be self-motivated, with first class leadership, communication, and coaching skills
Role and Responsibilities:
-Overall responsibility for managing & controlling 5 -10 domestic or school projects per day.
-Ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget & to agreed specification
-Liaison with clients to resolve issues & manage remedials
-Resourcing and procurement of materials and developing relationships with suppliers
-Line management of the installation teams, developing & implementing training plans. To be managed through fully documented process of objective setting, training plans and annual appraisals
-Responsible for recruitment strategy of installation staff
-Implementing and managing health & safety and quality procedures e.g CDM, RAMs etc
-Resourcing and managing subcontractors, developing strong relationships covering all disciplines within hard landscaping
-Overall responsibility for maintenance of fleet of installation vehicles &installation equipment
-Assisting franchisees with training & support
-Overseeing management of the warehouse and sample cutting operations
-Take an active role within the management team, seeking continuous improvement and leading by example
-Liaison with clients, subcontractors, designers, and other external contractors on site
-Ensuring efficient usage of all company resources
-Research and implement new ways of working to improve efficiency and reduce costs
Required Skills:
-Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role managing multiple installation teams/ multiple installation staff/ operations management role
-Excellent landscape & construction knowledge. Experience in similar sector: hard landscaping, playground contractor. Ideally possess landscaping qualifications
-An effective Team Leader with demonstrable Operation Management experience
-Management experience within a customer facing environment.
-Strong leadership skills and takes ownership.

-You will assist in lifting crops destined for our customers, this will be to the expected standard and given lifting rates, while being completed in a timely manner.

Our client has a beautiful private estate near Andover, Hampshire and is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable, all rounded Head Gardener to join on a full time and permanent basis.
This charming English garden covers about 4 acres including two paddocks managed by a local farmer. The formal garden includes lawns, rose garden, herbaceous borders that require attention and certain areas replanted, kitchen garden, fishpond and greenhouses. The kitchen garden provides the house with fruit, vegetables and cut flowers however there is an abundance which the Head Gardener is also welcome to.
The owner has lived at the property for over 50 years and has a real passion for the garden. Their Head Gardener has recently retired, and the owner is looking for an experienced gardener to manage and maintain the garden to a high standard. The ideal candidate will have excellent plant knowledge and experience in the finer horticultural aspects such as specialist pruning, kitchen gardening and planting schemes. They will also be comfortable with the mowing, weeding, hedge cutting, strimming and raise plants for the house.
The successful applicant will manage two part time gardeners who work on the garden two days per week. Additional duties will include occasional driving and security as they will be one of 3 keyholders.
Applicants must have experience working on a diverse private estate with a similar setting and have excellent plant knowledge. The ability to operate a range of garden machinery as well as basic maintenance. A full UK driving licence and own vehicle is essential. A staff car is provided for work purposes.

An opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled gardener to play a key role in the ongoing development and maintenance of a private garden near Hambledon in Hampshire, on a 2-3 day/week basis. This opportunity is open to self-employed gardeners who can demonstrate a thorough understanding of horticulture with excellent plant identification and time management skills.
The compact garden of approximately one-acre surrounds the house and is bordered by paddocks and copses extending approximately four-acres. Located in a rural hamlet, the garden comprises lawns, herbaceous and perennial borders, mature and young trees, gravel areas and pathways, flagstone paving, climbing plants and shrubs throughout. The garden also contains recently established raised beds for the fruit and vegetables to be planted and a glasshouse and cold frame has recently been installed. The garden is in the process of redesign and planting and as such, the role is focussed on design implementation and the associated application of necessary horticultural knowledge.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake greenhouse management and will have a good understanding of soil types. He / she will also be responsible for the general garden maintenance such as bed/border management and planting, pruning, and general seasonal garden management. In addition to the above, other small maintenance tasks will be required to a lesser degree such as raking gravel and sweeping of terraces. Heavy maintenance work is carried out by two groundsmen on a part-time basis to cover the hedge cutting, tree surgery, lawncare, soil rotation and organic matter. At present, there is no requirement for mowing of lawns or paddocks, though this may be something that could be requested in instances where the groundsmen are on holiday.
Suitable candidates are likely to be self-employed, should hold an RHS Level 3 horticultural qualification (practical and theoretical) and gardening experience, possess good plant identification skills, good physical fitness, an ability to operate and carry out basic maintenance of garden machinery, and have a thorough understanding of seasonal garden management. Spray certificates (PA1/PA6) would be beneficial, and a driving licence is essential due to the rural location of the property.

Gardener
A rare and incredible opportunity has become available for a gardener to manage and maintain the 1-acre productive and ornamental garden of an award-winning country pub in Hampshire. The position is for a sole gardener, to join a friendly team of 22 staff working at the pub.
On the production side, the gardener will work closely with the kitchen team in identifying and growing fruit, vegetables and produce seasonally for their dishes. They will be responsible for the poly tunnel planted up with salads and vegetables as well as the raised beds. This includes tending to the beds, for the growing of vegetables, garlic, onions, runner bean, salads, peas and the asparagus beds. There are box balls, gifted by Lord Lloyd Webber 12 years ago, that require top dressing or repotting each year in Autumn. The strawberries grow around each raised bed perimeter and the new young plants are potted on for further use. Good appearance at all times is essential as guests have access to the area to view the garden. Plum trees were planted in Spring 2013 and needs watering regularly.
There are four timed-watering systems at the pub – 1. Poly tunnel, 2. hanging baskets and brick wall, 3. lawns, raised beds and boarders, and 4. Plum trees, asparagus bed and lawn. All pots to be hand watered twice a week or more if required, from water tanks/butts and fed with tomato food once a month.
The non-productive areas of the garden include the hedges to be cut as required and cuttings to be planted in small pots for future hedges, the borders are to be maintained, divided and plants replaced as required and the Piecrust edging to be trimmed by hand. Lawncare; cutting the lawn once a week, and the kitchen staff help with moving tables and chairs, weed and feed twice a year or as needed and Supagrass applied two treatments a year. The hanging baskets are to be planned in advance for the next year, as well as the theme for troughs and pots too. The gardener will also be responsible for maintaining the indoor plants, repotting when needed including the preparation of bulbs for indoor display, potting in jam pans with moss or decorative bark and tending to Phalaenopsis.
Other responsibilities include leaf blowing, clearing the gutter, mowing the paddock, strimming the field entrance and footpath - These areas do not belong to the pub but require maintenance as our guests use them. The owners are keen to encourage wildlife such as frogs, spiders, ladybirds, birds and a hedgehog or two! Pest control is used in the form of rat boxes/baits and slug pellets however insect spraying is to be used sparingly. The gardener will maintain and clean the garden machinery on a regular basis as well and purchasing petrol for the mowers and supplies as and when required. As required, wood to be brought up from wood pile in field either for decorative purposes or fallen wood to be piled up and burned.

A self-motivated and driven Sole Gardener is sought after on a full time and permanent basis for a 5-acre private garden near Basingstoke, Hampshire.
This stunning Georgian house overlooks agricultural land to the south and the extensive gardens are made up of 7 rooms. These rooms include a walled garden close to the house and a various surrounding rose gardens, extensive lawns, herbaceous and shrub borders and a tennis court. The eastern garden has yew hedges and topiary and mature specimen conifers leading east through a wisteria walk into the kitchen garden with raised beds, two greenhouses for growing vegetables and fruits and a cutting garden.
The friendly owners are garden enthusiasts. They are open to new ideas for their garden and would like a horticulturist with a positive attitude and a passion for plants to come onboard to drive their garden forward. Where the gardens have been open for charity events in the past, they would like to enhance the garden to potentially open for events again in the future. A leading landscape designer, Taylor Tripp, visit the garden twice per year to provide their input and the sole gardener will work closely with them.
Applicants should ideally have a minimum level 2 horticultural qualification and previous experience working in a similar environment. PA1/PA6 spray certificates, combined with experience growing fruit and vegetables as well as specialist pruning is required for the role. Due to the rural locality, a full UK driving licence and own vehicle is essential.
A full time groundsperson currently works onsite and they are responsible for the repairs, maintenance of the machinery, lawncare including scarifying and hedgecutting. The sole gardener will be responsible for the finer horticultural aspects of the garden and will work alongside the groundsperson.

An exciting opportunity to a join leading countryside and ecology contracting company as a Senior Contracting Operative.
The Employer
Morton : Pattison is a contracting firm delivering specialist ecological, design & build and landscape services across the private, public and charitable sectors. The company specialises in countryside works, biodiversity habitat management & creation, ecological mitigation and a diverse portfolio of landscape design and installation. The company works principally on nature conservation sites, renewable energy sites and countryside infrastructure projects.
Role purpose
The purpose of the role will be to lead on the practical delivery of countryside and ecology contracting work. The types of work undertaken include but are not limited to:
Countryside infrastructure/access projects; boardwalks, footbridges, pond dipping platforms, path installation, fencing, agricultural drainage and water supply installation, gate installation.
Habitat creation and management; small tree felling and scrub management, hedge and tree planting, wildflower meadow creation, pond creation and improvements, control of non-native plant species/herbicide application, hibernacula creation, installation of bird and bat boxes.
Design and Build; Installation of bespoke landscape installations which are designed by our in-house landscape architect, for example biodiversity and educational installations in visitor centres.
This role will be ideal for someone with a 5+ years of landscape-based work experience and qualifications, looking to move into the countryside and ecology area of the landscape sector. The successful candidate is not expected to be experienced in all the above activities, but to have a good transferable foundation of landscaping skills to allow them to pick up and lead on new tasks quickly. Full in-house training in specific work areas will be given. Morton : Pattison is a growing company so there is scope for the right candidate to progress towards a project management role as the company expands.
