Landscape Coordinator - Trees for Cities - ADV197

Landscape Coordinator
Reporting to: The Landscape Manager
Location: London, UK
Salary: £21,840

As a Landscape Coordinator you will undertake the construction of Edible Playgrounds (vegetable gardens in schools) and support the Landscape Manager with project management and logistics.

The role focuses primarily on carpentry and landscaping skills, though experience from other industries is encouraged, such as forestry, gardening etc.

Our charity

Trees for Cities is an ambitious charity aiming to green urban areas through community tree planting projects and vegetable gardens in schools called Edible Playgrounds.

Edible Playgrounds transform areas in school grounds into vibrant outdoor spaces that excite and teach children about growing and eating healthy food. By instilling healthy eating habits at an early age they help tackle obesity, food poverty and lack of access to nature head on, and provide a platform for fun and engaging lessons that support the school curriculum.

You would be focused on building these Edible Playgrounds, taking bespoke designs from paper and making them a reality. Working on the ground year round you’ll be responsible for building raised beds, archways, habitat areas, outdoor classrooms and inputting creative ideas into future designs.

Benefits

Trees for Cities recognises the value of its employees and has a very generous holiday allowance, pension contributions and health plan. The role would be based in Denmark Hill, South London and the office is sited in a park – a healthy, convenient and beautiful place to work. We offer a great training package to support personal development and you will have the opportunity to work as part of a supportive, highly motivated and driven team!

What we’re looking for

A practical and hardworking individual who is motivated and has a talent for construction that can showcase Edible Playgrounds programme.
Experience and interest in woodworking, landscaping or forestry.
Excellent attention to detail, capable of using a variety of hand and power tools to produce a high quality end product.
A strong team member with the ability to communicate effectively within the team and across the charity.
Experience of coordinating and leading outdoor workshops and events with schools, community or volunteer groups.
Full driving license preferable but not necessary.
