The BALI registered, SAFE Contractor approved company employ an existing team of five staff, and are now looking to grow in line with increased customer demand.  The company are looking for an experienced gardener to join the team at foreman level, though they are more than willing to employ an experienced operative with potential to grow into the foreman role.  Applicants should therefore have demonstrable experience in a similar role, i.e. of private estate gardens. 

At operative level the work will involve general garden and grounds maintenance; hedge cutting, mowing, spraying, weeding, management of beds/borders and general seasonal horticultural duties.  Candidates at foreman level will be expected to provide direction to staff in terms of safety, machinery operation and basic maintenance, technique, and the application of correct horticultural practices at all times.

Applicants will ideally hold an academic horticultural qualification and spray certificates (PA1/6), though this is not essential if you can demonstrate a suitable level of hands-on experience.  A driving licence is essential, as is the ability to present yourself well to clients.

Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) is looking for a dynamic and experienced hands-on Garden Team Manager to join our gardens team at Kensington Palace. Your role will be to manage a team of dedicated gardeners, taking responsibility for all garden activities, as well as external fabric and green spaces – maintaining and developing the gardens around the Palace to 5 star standards

Leading from the front and working closely with your team, your duties will also include responsibility for health and safety, staff development, work scheduling and the security of all equipment.  You will also act as HRP’s representative in all matters relating to the day to day management of the gardens.  Floral bedding designs and plant ordering will also be part of this varied role.

Working within this team and with a keen eye for detail you will have a passion for gardening in prestigious gardens; a professional all round knowledge of garden maintenance tasks; and an understanding of what it means to provide a 5 Star service to our visitors.

The successful candidate will be positive, team focused and competent in using a range of horticultural machinery, for example hedge trimmers, lawn mowers and other specialist equipment. You also need to have good range of traditional gardening skills such as pruning, clipping topiary, seasonal bed planting and tending to containerised trees and shrubs.

You will have a horticultural qualification at QCF level 3 with practical horticultural experience, as well as proven experience of managing a team. You should be a proactive, enthusiastic and well organised individual able to work both independently and part of a team. Excellent communication and IT skills are essential in this role. Previous experience of leading a team and the ability to problem solve would be an advantage.

A full driving licence, and PA1:PA6 certification would be advantageous

An enthusiastic Gardener/Labourer is required to join a team of gardeners managing a prestigious 5 acre garden in Central London that is currently undergoing a complete restoration and transformation. The work will be varied as there is a mix of formal gardens, kitchen gardens, greenhouses and fruit production including espalier fruit trees, woodland garden and complex water features. There will also be a requirement to clean and maintain a large array of stone features.
