An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and knowledgeable gardener to develop and maintain two beautiful gardens. The company is looking for a Skilled Gardener to take ownership and to continue the maintenance of a striking and very prominent riverside garden in central London and of an extensive and well-established garden in Dulwich.
The riverside garden is formerly laid out and will require seasonal bedding designs to be produced and executed twice a year. The successful applicant will need good experience in planting schemes.
There will also be the opportunity to work alongside the estates management team to develop other areas on-site to complement the building and riverside garden so an ability to produce further landscaping sketches, develop and manage timetables and budgets will also be necessary. The ability to be flexible, collaborative and embrace new ideas is also essential.
The Dulwich garden has been designed by an award-winning landscape gardener in an English country style with a modern twist and includes a formal lawn, large herbaceous borders, a kitchen garden with several raised beds, ornamental pond, an orchard, a small wild woodland, hedges and topiary. Good experience of maintaining these areas will be essential. Liaising with the landlord/household in respect of seasonal produce is also a requirement for this role.
Health and Safety awareness, spray certificates (PA1/6) and an ability to keep accurate records are expected. Horticultural qualifications are preferred however those with the ability to produce a solid body of evidence in the form of a visual portfolio will be considered. A full driving licence is required for this role.

Head/Skilled Gardener – Live out – South West London – EC5159
We are seeking a suitable candidate for a large private National Trust estate in Elmbridge.
The 2 acre garden is currently maintained to a high standard with a formal area of fine lawns, herbaceous borders, shrubberies, over 500 roses, extensive ground cover, hedges and climbing plants and a further 4 acres of private woodland.
The person appointed will be responsible for taking care of all plants, shrubs and overseeing the general smooth running of the gardens and grounds to a high standard.
Additionally the owners of the residence would like to begin woodland planting, which is a mass of area ready for creative input and ideas.
It is a hands-on role but also includes overseeing the work of outside contractors responsible for the lawn care and occasional tree surgery.
It is envisaged that an additional under gardener will be required, and as head gardener you will be expected to manage this person when appointed.
The owners are keen to develop the garden further with perhaps the addition of a greenhouse and vegetable garden. It is therefore important that candidates have good general horticultural knowledge and are able to work closely with the owners in delivering a suitable development plan, including the design of new planting schemes.
Candidates must have excellent craft gardening skills including pruning and topiary and be familiar with the treatment and prevention of pest and diseases, and come with spraying knowledge and pest/disease experience.
This is a permanent, full time position working generally 5 days /week, however during the hotter months additional hours may be required to carry out watering etc.
The salary on offer is flexible and will depend on the experience of the successful applicant.
