The property is at the end of the first stage of being redeveloped and the owners are looking for a gardener to continue to drive the garden forward and enhance to add a modern touch whilst retaining the history of the garden. The gardener will be part of a wider estate team but will be solely responsible for the maintenance and management of the formal gardens to ensure efficiency and maintain to a high horticultural standard and presentation.  Applicants should be equally driven, energetic and experienced hands-on professionals with excellent attention to detail and a flexible approach to occasional assist on the wider estate.

The family enjoy cooking and a healthy lifestyle and are looking for a Chef with a passion for food and an appetite to create delicious and interesting meals. The successful candidate will work closely with the gardener who will provide fresh seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs from the kitchen garden to allow the chef to prepare delicious meals from scratch. The estate also has their own cows, sheep and pigs. The chef will be expected to work most weekends with two days off in the week and prepare food for the occasional dinner party.

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced domestic couple to share the day-to-day management of a family home in rural Essex. This is home to a private family, with additional family members living in a separate house on the estate. The ideal candidates will be flexible and proactive with proven experience working within a country household.

The housekeeper will be required to clean to a high standard throughout the home to include the care and cleaning of high-quality furnishings, fine art and fabrics. The role will include any laundry ironing and wardrobe management as well as provisioning, household organisation and management. On occasions the successful candidate will be required to assist with the planning of family parties and entertaining events as well as providing light, simple, family cooking for dinner parties. The housekeeper will assist with food preparation, shopping, and general errands. The owner has 2 dogs, and they will sometimes require assistance with their care which will also involve pet and house sitting when the family are away.  Babysitting of the principles 2 grandchildren will also be a part of the role as and when required.

The Handyperson will be required to undertake household maintenance and general maintenance work throughout the grounds. This home is set within 27 acres and has had input from respected garden designers in recent years. The general assistant will support the existing team of two gardeners with general garden maintenance, lawn mowing and pressure washing of patio and courtyard areas. The successful candidate will provide occasional driving for the family and occasional cleaning of the cars on the estate. Within the home the post holder will oversee visiting contractors, prepare fires, polish brass and silver, provide support when entertaining and pet and house sit when the family are away.

Working week is 5.5 days. 08:30 to 17:30 Monday to Friday and 08:30 to 13:00 on Saturdays, start and finish time may be changed to suit the needs of the household. During the working day there will be an unpaid break of 60 minutes. The role offers 22 days annual leave with additional bank holidays. Accomodation consists of a self-contained 2-bedroom flat with council tax and utilities paid by the employer.

Gardener or Couple

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Gardener with experience in garden maintenance to a high horticultural standard.

The beautiful all-seasons garden comprises of herbaceous and mixed borders with a vast array of ornamental species, including a vegetable garden, blue garden and a red garden, rose garden, lawn, arboretum with specimen oaks, and a woodland area.

Applicants for the gardener role will have experience and preferably hold horticultural qualification. Experience will include pruning, planting, propagating, growing as well as general garden maintenance including mowing, weeding, strimming and hedge cutting. In addition, the gardener will have good practical skills, be hands on, backed up with plant knowledge.

This is a live in or live out position. The accommodation provided is a lovely newly refurbished 2-bed accommodation and would be available free of all expenses for the right candidate. Animal lovers, but regrettably no pets of their own.

For the couple’s role, the partner would be employed as a second gardener or as a housekeeper. Duties under the responsibility of the housekeeper will consist of the upkeep of the main house by way of cleaning and maintaining to a very high standard, some laundry, shopping, some cooking desirable. At least one of the applicants must be a driver.

For the Gardener, working hours are anticipated to be Monday to Fridays 8am -5pm. The Housekeeper will be expected to work some weekends with time off during the week instead.

Job Description:

An incredible opportunity has arisen for a Gardener / Housekeeper Couple to join an important Grade 1 house near Salisbury in their respective fields. The Gardener will join on a full-time basis to rejuvenate and restore the prestigious listed garden around the house, with the objective to bring it back to its former glory. The housekeeper can join on a full-time basis or part time with the opportunity to increase hours in the future. The accommodation provided is a 3-bedroom flat in the coach house.

The property is a large Georgian country house surrounded by a 3-acre formal garden that is part of a wider estate including listed parkland, paddocks, woodland, swimming pool and tennis court. The 19th century formal garden to the West was terraced by William Butterfield and features yew topiary, stone urns and steps, fine specimen trees, water features, and extensive lawns. To the East is a large lawn and attractive pastureland framed by mature trees. The owners recently purchased the property and are looking to carry out a complete restoration of the house and garden. The ideal candidate for the gardening position will have an eye for detail and a strong interest in getting involved in a rejuvenating and renewal project. The Gardener will be hands on, and in the initial stages, there will clearing and restoring e.g., overgrown topiary and lawncare as well as assist on the wider estate. When the structural foundations are in place for the garden, the gardener will work on the design of the garden (potentially with a landscape designer) and be responsible for the care and maintenance of the grounds to a high horticultural standard. This would include maintaining the lawns, hedge cutting, pruning, transplanting, weeding, etc. with seasonal help as necessary.

Housekeeping duties will consist of the upkeep of the main house by way of cleaning, laundry, ironing, weekly shopping, and some preparation of food when the owners are in residence. 

This opportunity is also open to a live out senior gardener who is experienced, organised, has good attention for detail and can work on their own initiative. A competitive salary would be provided depending on experience.

My client is a large and very established plant nursery located in Norway, with 30,000m2 of modern greenhouse areas. The nursery produces large numbers of high-quality potted roses in spring and summer, but have unrealised potential for late summer, autumn and winter production. The experienced Production Manager will be required to develop production in the period from July to March and contribute to rose production in Spring and Summer, as well as to manage this side of the business on a full-time basis.  Responsibilities will include planning and execution of plant production, management and maintenance of technical facilities and the operation of greenhouse climate control systems.

Suitable candidates will hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or similar, and must have competency in greenhouse management, propagation and insect/disease control as well as being competency in mechanical maintenance.  Strong horticultural and floricultural knowledge is essential as is demonstrable knowledge of relevant plant pests and diseases.  Applicants must have held certification and official training in the use of plant pesticides, must be self-directed and able to work efficiently and effectively under limited supervision.  Applicants must have excellent English or Norwegian language skills, both spoken and written.

Applicants for this role must be excellent communicators with experience in a similar role, i.e., at managerial level.  Strong IT skills including the use of Microsoft Excel are essential, as is an understanding of process improvement, LEAN and Quality systems.  The successful candidate will be an inspirational team player and must have a good track record of being a successful senior manager or being in a leadership role within the Horticultural sector.  A thorough understanding of the technical requirements of production horticulture is required, as is a good understanding of horticultural machinery, as the General Manager must be able to direct the maintenance team and contractors, as necessary.  Competency in negotiation and procurement is also required to be successful in this role.  Applicants should hold academic horticultural qualifications and must be able to demonstrate competency, via previously held positions, in each of the above areas.
