Skilled Gardener - Live Out - EC4134
A picturesque private estate situated in West Berkshire requires an enthusiastic and experienced gardener. The ideal candidate will have excellent plant knowledge, all round horticultural skills, and the ability to work as part of a small team of gardeners. It would be preferable, but not essential, for applicants to have had experience working in a large private garden of a similar nature. Flexible hours/part time considered for the right applicant.
The 10 acre gardens comprise sizeable flower beds, small vegetable garden, greenhouse, large areas of lawns, woodland and river frontage. The traditional English country garden is undergoing the redesign of some elements, therefore candidates should be willing to work enthusiastically alongside the owner and designer to implement and care for the new planting. The client is primarily looking for someone with a great eye for detail and excellent horticultural knowledge as the basic gardening tasks, i.e. hedge cutting and mowing, are managed by existing maintenance staff. Candidates should be trustworthy and understand estate etiquette and client confidentiality. They should also be prepared to assist the Estate Manager and other members of the team with other estate tasks when required.
The estate has a welcoming environment, therefore applicants must have a friendly and flexible approach to work, with a willingness to work hard and be an integral part of a small friendly team. The residence is a secondary home and can be very busy during the summer, therefore you will be expected to work longer hours at this time, with time off in lieu during the quieter periods.
Full security screening and references will be required before the vacancy is offered to the successful candidate. Applicants should be non-smokers and must hold a full UK driving licence. Blaklader gardening clothing is also provided for staff as part of their staff uniform.
