Our client runs a successful landscape, arb, and grounds maintenance business which carries out work for a variety of clients, including Housing Developers, Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Construction Companies etc.

An opportunity has become available for experienced Arborists /Groundsmen to join their Arboricultural Association Approved Team. Positions are available at depots in west Norfolk and Peterborough.

Key points:

Your main role will be completing all arboricultural operations to the industry and statutory standards working at all times of the year and in all weather conditions. You will perform your duties in compliance with the requirements of the Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor scheme and to promote the company image and ethos.

You will be expected to assist in organising and maintaining a safe and effective work site, work to deadlines, supervise ground staff and assist in monthly on-site practice of aerial rescue techniques.

You will be able to work effectively with minimum supervision, complete tasks to satisfactory conclusions, and understand the importance of customer care.

Must haves:

Candidates for Groundsmen positions should have relevant qualifications up to a minimum of NPTC CS38 (002013). Arborists should be qualified to a minimum of CS39. Additional qualifications such as CS40 & CS41 will be a distinct advantage. A full UK driving licence is essential (with pre-97 or B+E again an advantage)

The successful candidate will be punctual and reliable, have a willingness to undertake further training, comfortable working alone and as part of a team, and they will have a positive attitude and good work ethic.

The ideal candidate would have a minimum of one years practical experience working in an arb environment.

Under Gardener - Live Out - Full Time - Guiting Grange - ADV236

You will be working as part of the Gardening team, under the Head Gardener, within private gardens near Bourton on the Water.

The grounds consist of formal lawns, ornamental hedges, water features, natural areas, rose garden, herbaceous borders, greenhouses, orchards and vegetable gardens.

The role will include general garden maintenance, including mowing, strimming, edging, hedge cutting, weeding, watering, greenhouse work, sweeping and generally keeping all garden areas tidy and free of debris/leaves, so attention to detail is a must.

Working within a small team, assistance may also be required with jobs in other areas of the Estate, therefore you must be able to work well as part of a team, with good communication skills, but also be able to work on your own.  Due to the nature of the job, you must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions.

Experience in all aspects of gardening is desirable, but not essential, as guidance will be given, but the right candidate must be enthusiastic about gardening and keen to learn.

Under Gardener - Live Out - EC4665

An excellent career opportunity has arisen for an Under Gardener to replace a long serving gardener on a 35-acre estate situated in Wiltshire. The 35 acres plus woodland comprises of water and wildflower meadows, maintained along organic lines. There are extensive lawns and borders, hedges and topiary, that include Beech, Hornbeam Yew and Box. Together with 3 green houses and a poly tunnel, the vegetable and fruit gardens are overseen by the Soil Association. All areas on the Estate are maintained to a very high standard by a Team of 6, a Head Gardener, 2 Senior Gardeners along with 3 Gardeners.

Our client is looking to recruit a ‘team gardener’, the successful candidate will ideally have experience working in a large private garden. However, consideration will be given to candidates that lack experience but demonstrate a passion for gardening, a willingness to learn and develop skills.  All candidates must have enthusiasm, self-motivation, a degree of organisational skill, time management and flexibility. It is essential all candidates can work alone as well as part of a team.

The position of Under Gardener is primarily a gardening role but as with all similar Estates there may occasionally be the need to support other departments or work on the owner’s other properties in the UK or Abroad.

RHS level 2 or equivalent would be desirable as well as previous experience operating a pedestrian and ride on garden machinery, including daily checks and maintenance. Reasonable plant knowledge would be beneficial as would being able to identify a range of plants to generic and species level along with how to maintain them.

Additional training will be given for the following certificates if not already obtained;

  • First aid at work (emergency first aid, one day course)
  • Working at heights, with scaffold towers, ladders and M.E.W.P
  • PA1, PA6
  • Chainsaw licence

Salary package to include:

  •  3% Pension contribution paid after 3 months
  • Holidays 21 days initially, rising with service after 5 years.

Working Hours:

  •  40 hours per week: 8am to 4:30pm, half hour lunch, plus 1 duty weekend (currently 1 in 6).
  • Other overtime as required paid at 1.5 x Hourly Rate.

SALARY:  £19,500 - £22,500 DOE (Live out)
