Part-time Gardener -EC3992

A superb opportunity has arisen for a part-time Gardener to supplement a small team on a charming 4 acre private garden near Pewsey, Wiltshire. The garden is surrounded by the owners land and the odd estate gardening and maintenance tasks will occasionally arise alongside the regular gardening duties in the owner’s garden.  Typical duties are likely to include weeding beds, growing fresh produce, digging over beds/borders and maintenance of an adjacent church yard also.  Chainsaw and spray certificates would be an advantage as would a full clean driving lice and own transport to commute to and from the property.  Above all the owner is looking for somebody who is hard working, willing, flexible and able to work with minimal supervision. General gardening knowledge, experience looking after a large private garden and a genuine interest in growing produce are essential for the role.

Part Time Plants Person - EC3982

A part-time (3 days a week) role has developed for a plants person to work on a privately owned small family estate with 3 formal gardens, wildlife pond garden, small woodland and established borders and parkland style area.

The grounds cover an area of approximately 5 acres, and are a mix of mature and newly planted trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants, augmented by bulbs and annual flowers. Each of the 3 formal gardens have their own identity and the successful applicant will be required to develop these areas further by suggesting and implementing planting schemes. The owners are keen to have a garden that is a pleasure to view and walk and sit in.

Plant selection, propagation, and seed growing skills are essential, with knowledge of plant diseases and administration of treatments also required. The use of organic, companion planting and biological treatments is preferred to chemical administration in the first instance.

There is an established band of people taking care of the kitchen garden, lawns, hedges, and pond maintenance allowing this role to be primarily focussed on all aspects of planting, and plant care.

The role is for a self-employed person, 3 days a week.

Qualifications: RHS level 2 are desirable but not essential.

A rare opportunity has arisen for a Junior Gardener to work alongside a Senior Gardener and Contractor managing the garden and grounds of a 2,000 acre estate close to Aberdeen. The garden has 1.5 acres of productive walled garden, with 2 greenhouses, 2 polytunnels. Other areas include mixed shrub beds, roses and fruit trees and extensive woodland walk area with policies planted up with azaleas and magnolias.

This vacancy is a rare opportunity for either a newly qualified Gardener or someone who already has basic practical experience in estate work who wishes to gain further hands on experience working in a large private estate garden to develop their skills and knowledge through practical work and mentoring from senior gardeners.

Any experience with propagating, planting, weeding and general plant care of flowers fruits and shrubs would be beneficial.  It is anticipated you will gain experience in pruning fruit trees, roses and shrubs and the use and care of garden machinery and power tools.  The role not only includes garden work but also working on the wider estate maintaining policy areas also where required and assisting with other tasks around the estate as required.

If you have PA1/PA6 spray certificates and CS30/31 chainsaw certificates they would be an advantage. As would a full clean driving licence and own transport.

This vacancy comes with a small 3 bedroom cottage with its own garden.  Council tax is paid but utility bills are the Gardener's responsibility.
