Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Horticultural Manager / Plant Area Manager to oversee the outdoor plant department within a busy garden centre. This is a hands-on retail management role, ideal for a qualified horticulturalist with strong commercial awareness and team leadership experience.
You will be responsible for driving plant sales, maintaining high merchandising standards, and leading a team to deliver exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the day-to-day running of the plant area
- Planning and supervising staff to ensure efficient department operations
- Driving sales and profit targets through effective merchandising and stock control
- Ensuring all plants are well maintained, healthy, and displayed to a high standard
- Overseeing stock control, replenishment, and pricing accuracy
- Creating attractive and commercially effective plant displays and POS
- Leading, coaching, and developing the team to maximise performance
- Providing expert horticultural advice and customer service
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping
- Supporting wider garden centre operations as part of the Duty Management team
Skills & Attributes
- Strong horticultural knowledge and passion for plants
- Proven experience in a garden centre or horticultural retail environment
- Previous supervisory experience
- Commercial awareness with the ability to drive sales performance
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Customer-focused with a friendly and engaging personality
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
Location:
Based in Cheshire.
