Our client is a well-established, high-end landscaping business based in West Sussex, specialising in the creation and maintenance of beautiful, long-lasting gardens. Their portfolio includes a variety of projects, from contemporary townhouses and courtyard gardens to traditional cottage gardens and large countryside landscapes. They are known for their high standards, strong horticultural expertise, and attention to detail.

Role Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a Gardener or Junior Landscape Gardener looking to develop their career within horticulture. The role will involve a mix of garden maintenance, planting, and soft landscaping, working as part of a professional team on high-quality residential gardens.

This position would suit someone with a passion for gardening, good foundational horticultural knowledge, and a willingness to learn and progress within the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with loading and unloading vehicles at the start and end of the day
  • Maintenance and care of tools and equipment
  • Carrying out garden maintenance including weeding, plant care, and seasonal tasks
  • Hedge cutting using correct horticultural techniques
  • Lawn care including mowing, edging, strimming, and seasonal treatments
  • Supporting seasonal and technical pruning tasks
  • Assisting with identifying and treating pests and plant diseases
  • Supporting planting teams with installation of planting schemes
  • Maintaining high standards of health & safety on-site
  • Working effectively as part of a team to deliver high-quality gardens
  • Adapting to seasonal changes, weather conditions, and workload priorities

Skills & Attributes

  • Passionate in horticulture and wanting to expand your knowledge.
  • Familiarity with garden machinery and equipment
  • Understanding of hedge cutting and pruning techniques
  • Awareness of common plant pests and diseases
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Good timekeeping and organisational ability
  • Reliable and hardworking approach
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in work
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather

Location:

Based in West Sussex.

Working Hours:

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday (with flexibility depending on workload and seasonality)
