Our client is a well-established, high-end landscaping and gardening company based in West Sussex, specialising in the design, installation, and maintenance of premium residential gardens. Their portfolio includes a wide range of projects such as contemporary garden design, traditional cottage gardens, and large countryside landscapes. They are recognised for delivering high-quality horticultural work and exceptional attention to detail.
Role Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced knowledgeable Gardener or Horticultural Professional to join a growing team in West Sussex. The role involves a mix of garden maintenance, soft landscaping, and planting, working on high-spec private gardens.
The successful candidate will have strong plant knowledge, practical experience in grounds maintenance, and a passion for delivering high standards in a fast-paced landscaping environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out garden maintenance duties including weeding, pruning, and plant care
- Visiting client properties, typically one to two per day.
- Performing hedge cutting using correct horticultural techniques and seasonal timing
- Lawn care including mowing, edging, strimming, and seasonal lawn treatments
- Supporting soft landscaping and planting schemes
- Identifying and treating garden pests and plant diseases
- Using and maintaining horticultural machinery and garden equipment
- Assisting with loading and unloading tools and material
- Maintaining high standards of health & safety on-site
- Working efficiently in all weather conditions across different seasons
Skills & Attributes
- Strong horticultural knowledge
- Experience with garden machinery and equipment
- Knowledge of hedge cutting techniques and appropriate pruning timings
- Understanding of seasonal pruning practices
- Ability to identify pests and diseases
- Excellent communication skills and a personable approach
- Strong organisational and timekeeping skills
- Reliable and proactive attitude
- Keen eye for detail and strong aesthetic awareness
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Location:
Based in West Sussex.
