Gardener
Gardener required
Job Ref ADV386
Harris Gardens is an entrepreneurial garden maintenance company based in and around Tunbridge Wells. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Lead Gardener to join our team, working on a variety of gardens within a 20-mile radius of Tunbridge Wells.
We are a team of 10 Gardeners and two Administrators. Our Gardeners work in teams of two, so a Lead is responsible for ensuring the team is where it needs to be with the right equipment. Liaising with customers during visits to get the best out of their gardens is an important part of a Lead Gardener’s role, providing opportunities for ‘ownership’ of some beautiful gardens where the possibilities for horticultural development and planting are endless.
Maintenance tasks will include, but not be limited to: lawn care; bed work & pruning; mulching and hedge cutting. We avoid pesticide use wherever possible and within our team have broad experience of different methods, allowing our gardeners the flexibility to try new things and develop their own skills and experience, according to their horticultural slants.
As well as regular maintenance work, we are often called upon to create and execute planting plans for new and existing clients, so good plant knowledge and plant design principles are beneficial.
Good communication and management skills are required as you would be 'leading' an Assistant Gardener on a day-to-day basis to ensure our high standards are adhered to and our customers are happy. Our philosophy is to take the hassle of gardening away from our customers so they can enjoy their gardens to the fullest. We work hard and take enormous pride in what we do
As well as Gardeners, we would consider applicants from all areas of horticulture, including grounds maintenance, lawn care, landscaping, tree surgery, nurseries and garden centres.
We are able to offer career progression and training, alongside a supportive team, where sharing knowledge and experience is encouraged and nurtured.
Due to the rural location of our base, own transport is essential. Please do not apply if you do not have your own transport.
Our base is in Southborough and working hours are 7.30am – 5pm. We offer 28 days paid holiday, plus the Christmas/New Year break. All equipment and uniform is provided.
