Gardener - Live Out - EC6213
An opportunity has arisen on a beautiful country private estate located close to Preston, Lancashire, for an experienced Gardener. This position would suit a presentable and time-served gardener with demonstrable experience of working on private estate gardens.
The property spans 26-acres in total and is made up of 16 acres of woodlands/pasture and 10 acres of formal gardens. The gardens currently consist of large areas of lawn plus a walled garden including a parterre and sunken garden. There are also substantial amounts of hedging and bushes which need regular attention.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the general maintenance of the gardens and estate, i.e. mowing, strimming, leaf blowing, hedge cutting, pest control, weeding as well as horticultural practices such as planting and some garden developments. He / She will work to a high standard and in the summer months, additional help will be employed to assist with the mowing. He / She should be highly self-motivated, well presented, with a good eye for detail, able to organise and carry out work with minimum supervision.
Applicants should have a demonstrable background in horticulture and have previous experience working on a private estate. He/ She will possess excellent practical skills and a good level of competency in the operation and basic maintenance of garden machinery. The garden is equipped with a wide range of modern garden machinery and tools, and candidates should be familiar with the use of ride on mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters etc. Academic horticultural qualifications are beneficial but not essential, and spray certificates (PA1/PA6) and chainsaw certificates would be an advantage. Candidates must be presentable, positive in their approach to the job at hand, physically fit, and be able to apply excellent attention to detail at all times. In addition to gardening duties there may be the requirement to carry out basic handyman tasks from time to time plus occasional driving.
This is an excellent position for an experienced gardener to work on a beautiful private estate on a permanent full-time basis. There is the opportunity for career development and an annual salary increase.
SALARY: Up to £23,000 depending on experience
