Skilled Gardener - Live Out - EC7802 - This position has now been filled

Skilled Gardener Required

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced gardener to join a small team on a beautiful private estate near Alresford, Hampshire.  The welcoming family currently employ a talented Head Gardener, under whom the successful applicant will work and are now looking to expand the team to a total of four full-time employees.

Built in the late 1700’s, the Grade II listed house is situated within 45-acres of parkland with formal gardens of approximately 13-acres, originally laid out by Richard Woods; a contemporary of Capability Brown.  The grounds have been painstakingly restored to the original plans in several phases over the years, most recently since 2004 by the current owner, with more sensitive restoration planned.  The property owners are passionate about the gardens, such that only tree, shrub and flower species available in the mid-1700’s, have been used in the restoration.

The formal aspect of the garden includes expansive lawns, hedges, a pool, herbaceous borders, a large kitchen garden, mixed beds/borders, ornamental shrubberies, young and mature/ancient specimen trees with woodland walks, topiary, a considerable Ha-ha and much more, all with impressive vistas across the estate and surrounding South Downs.
