An excellent opportunity has become available for a Senior Gardener has arisen within historic estate in North Suffolk. The successful candidate will be in charge of the ongoing maintenance and development of the gardens throughout the seasons, alongside a team of 2 assistant gardeners.
The Grade I listed property is encompassed by established gardens and situated within over 500 acres. The main gardens feature a 4-acre walled garden which includes herbaceous borders, rose bushes, a variety of beds, topiary, box and hornbeam hedging, crinkle crankle wall, espalier wall, large green house, vegetable garden and cutting garden. Additionally, there is a furth 4 acres of parkland, featuring a variety of woodland beds alongside a mixture of young and mature trees.
The key focus for the Senior Gardener will be to increase the overall standards within the gardens, to a greater horticultural standard, while leading the small team. The successful candidate will be a knowledgeable and experienced gardener, with extensive plant knowledge, able to properly care for herbaceous boarders, an eye for detail, and have demonstratable experience within a similar setting. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a positive and approachable attitude, with the ability to manage their own workload throughout the seasons. Relevant horticultural qualifications are desirable but not essential, alongside the addition of industry related tickets such as PA1/PA6 spraying.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Gardener who is searching for a long-term position to implement their skills, while developing an established garden and seeking the opportunity to develop their leadership experience. The position is full time, Monday to Friday. Additionally, accommodation is available to the successful candidate in the form of either 1 or 2 bedroom property, partners and dependents are welcome.
SALARY: Circa £31,000 DOE
