An attractive opportunity has arisen for a talented and experienced Head Gardener to develop and drive forward the gardens of an incredible private estate in East Suffolk on a full-time and permanent basis.
The owners are investing in the garden and are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable and hands on Head gardener with experience developing and creating diverse gardens to a high horticultural standard. He / She will have a creative input, high attention to details and is someone who takes pride in their work.
Suitable applicants will ideally possess an academic horticultural qualifications and experience in horticulturally diverse gardens, good physical fitness, and excellent plant identification and management skills. Applicants should also be confident and skilled in horticultural techniques, have experience with budget management / cost control of work programmes, have the ability to organise their time effectively and put together the right team to provide a garden to a very high standard. The owners are keen to make the garden as organic as possible therefore an interest and experience in organic gardening and composting would be advantageous.
Applicants should hold a full driving licence, your own transport for commuting to and from site. Spray tickets (PA1/PA6) and a chainsaw licence would be beneficial, but training can be provided. The role would suit someone who is hard-working and flexible with a positive attitude and a diplomatic approach. The property owners are enthusiastic and involved in the garden developments. They will work closely with the head gardener and therefore expect regular updates in relation to planned work and progress.
This is a great opportunity for a passionate Head Gardener looking to take on a long-term project in a rewarding role on a beautiful private estate, working for interested and friendly clients. Accommodation can be provided if required.
SALARY: Circa £45,000 depending on experience
