Our client is not your average garden design company and they are currently looking for a Junior Gardener. Over the years they have built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality, bespoke gardens and outdoor spaces. Their work spans landscape construction and ongoing aftercare, across both domestic and commercial settings.
The company is passionate about sustainability and educating clients on how to care for and develop their gardens in an environmentally responsible way, creating outdoor spaces that can be enjoyed by people and wildlife alike. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to bring in a horticulturist who is keen to develop into a client-facing, sales-focused role.
The Role:
This is an excellent opportunity for an entry level horticulturist who has ambitions to progress into sales. The successful candidate will receive full training and support, working closely with the Operations Manager and Projects Manager, learning how projects are costed, sold and delivered.
Initially the role will be hands-on and horticulturally focused, gradually developing into a more client-facing position as confidence and experience grow.
Job Responsibilities
Duties will include but are not limited to:
• Supporting the maintenance and aftercare of high-end domestic and commercial gardens
• Assisting with planting, pruning, general garden maintenance and presentation of sites
• Learning how to assess gardens and contribute to planting ideas
• Accompanying senior staff on site visits and client meetings as part of training
• Supporting project delivery and helping to ensure high standards are maintained
• Building product and plant knowledge to support future sales
• Adhering to Health & Safety procedures at all times
• Using garden machinery and hand tools safely (training provided where required)
Key Skills & Personal Qualities
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, reliable and keen to learn. This role would suit someone who enjoys horticulture but is also interested in developing commercial and design skills.
They will be:
- A good communicator with a friendly and professional manner
- Interested in client interaction
- Willing to learn and take on feedback
- Comfortable working as part of a team and developing independence over time
- Passionate about plants and outdoor environments
Requirements
- Some formal horticultural training or practical experience (Level 2 desirable but not essential)
- Good plant knowledge and interest in developing further
- Physically fit and happy working outdoors in all weathers
- Eligible to work in the UK
