Our client is a well-established, family-run gardening and landscaping business that takes great pride in delivering high-quality garden care and enhancements. Working across a range of private, well-maintained gardens, this role offers variety and the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development and presentation of outdoor spaces.
As a Gardener, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and improvement of domestic gardens, ensuring they are cared for to a high standard throughout the year. This is a hands-on, physically active role requiring horticultural knowledge, attention to detail, and a professional approach. No two gardens are the same, and the successful candidate will take pride in their work and the results they deliver.
Key Responsibilities:
- General garden maintenance, including mowing, strimming, edging, and lawn care
- Planting, pruning, and maintenance of shrubs, trees, herbaceous borders, and seasonal planting
- Hedge cutting and shaping
- Weed control and mulching of borders and beds
- Operation and maintenance of gardening tools and machinery
- Ensuring gardens are presented to a consistently high standard
- Working independently or as part of a small team to complete tasks efficiently
- Communicating professionally with clients and colleagues
- Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health and safety regulations
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a professional gardening role
- Good horticultural knowledge and practical gardening skills
- Ability to use gardening tools and machinery safely and effectively
- Full Clean UK driving licence (essential)
- PA1/PA6 or other spraying certificates (desirable but not essential)
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
The team meet at the yard at 7.30 am and finish at 4.45 pm. They go out to jobs in teams of 2 – 3 and overtime is paid. The team cover one or a maximum of two sites per day within a one hour radius from the yard.
