An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hardworking and passionate Gardener/Groundsperson who is eager to both apply and develop their hands on horticultural skills and knowledge, working closely within a small team of gardeners to maintain and develop a beautiful private estate located between East Grinstead and Tunbridge Wells.
This historic country house is part of an estate spanning 75 acres, including extensive gardens and woodland. Surrounding this stunning property, the formal gardens include herbaceous borders, informal and formal plantings, with formal and informal lawns, a walled kitchen garden, glasshouse, fruit and specimen tree planting, arboreta and parkland.
The gardens are currently mid-way through a period of enhancement and redesign, working with an external landscape designer, with the intent to bring the private gardens up to the very highest horticultural standard. The successful candidate will assist in the maintenance and development of the garden and grounds, working closely with the gardening team to enhance the extensive gardens, while applying their horticultural skills and continuing to develop their abilities.
Applicants will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating a willingness to learn while being proactive and energetic. They will posses the ability to take instruction, completing tasks while working in a team, contributing to a positive and friendly working environment.
The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of plant types and good plant identification skills. Duties will include maintenance of the grounds and gardens to the highest possible standards, therefore experience in the use of basic garden machinery is necessary. Demonstratable knowledge of tree, lawn and plant maintenance is essential, with any horticultural qualifications and tickets such as PA1/PA6 spraying or CS30/31 chainsaw certificates being advantageous but not essential.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Gardener/Groundsperson to assist in the maintenance and development of a beautiful and diverse garden during this continued and exciting time of enhancement.
