An exciting opportunity has become available for a talented gardener and a passionate Chef either as a couple or an individual who enjoys both, to join one of the country’s most beautiful home and gardens in Dorchester, Dorset on a full-time permanent basis.
The incredible grade I listed property is set within 135-acres of immaculate formal gardens, grounds, woodland, parkland and lake. The all-seasons garden comprises of a kitchen garden which is a key focus area, herbaceous borders, expansive lawns and a vast array of ornamental species and features. It is part of a wider estate including an arable and pasture farm.
The property is at the end of the first stage of being redeveloped and the owners are looking for a gardener to continue to drive the garden forward and enhance to add a modern touch whilst retaining the history of the garden. The gardener will be part of a wider estate team but will be solely responsible for the maintenance and management of the formal gardens to ensure efficiency and maintain to a high horticultural standard and presentation. Applicants should be equally driven, energetic and experienced hands-on professionals with excellent attention to detail and a flexible approach to occasional assist on the wider estate.
The family enjoy cooking and a healthy lifestyle and are looking for a Chef with a passion for food and an appetite to create delicious and interesting meals. The successful candidate will work closely with the gardener who will provide fresh seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs from the kitchen garden to allow the chef to prepare delicious meals from scratch. The estate also has their own cows, sheep and pigs. The chef will be expected to work most weekends with two days off in the week and prepare food for the occasional dinner party.
This new opportunity would suit a horticulturist and a chef as a couple or an individual with experience in cooking and a keen interest in kitchen gardening.
Accommodation is provided rent free for the successful couple with council tax and utilities paid by the employer. The accommodation would be a large one-bedroom flat in the main house and therefore unfortunately not suitable for pets or children. There are cottages available on the estate that are currently under renovation and can be available for the Gardener / Chef to move into once ready.

SALARY: Combined Salary of £65,000
