Gardener / Project Worker – Vacancy
Our Project Workers are the foundation of Sunnyside Rural Trust, and as we grow, we are looking for more to join our team! The role involves supporting groups of young people and adults with learning disabilities to develop horticultural work skills in a rural setting. This job is diverse and physical, involving taking on important gardening contracts and supporting the ongoing maintenance of our sites. We are looking for people who are passionate about enhancing the lives of those with learning disabilities and creating opportunities for them to thrive.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To support the team and the Manager in providing a high quality day and employment placement to people with learning disabilities. To organise and participate in indoor and outdoor activities around social enterprise, horticulture, conservation and animal care. To carry out all duties as instructed in a satisfactory manner and in accordance with SRT’s philosophies, values, principles, aims and objectives. To work within legal requirements, relevant policies, procedures and guidelines. To take joint responsibility for organising trainee activities, which support the maintenance, upkeep and development of the Sunnyside sites.

Desirable skills:
- Horticultural experience or qualification
- A knowledge of horticulture and an ability to safely carry out and supervise a range of horticultural and conservation activities at Trust sites.
- The ability to perform physical horticultural tasks
- Allotment holder or experience of growing food
Salary: Starting salary £24,862.50 full-time, pro rata for part time. Plus benefits – learning opportunities such as RHS training and discounted food and drinks in our cafes / farm
