Kitchen Team Leader sought for Garden Centre restaurant. Our client is a highly commended, family-run garden centre in the South of Staffordshire, with 5 stores and 35 years in the garden industry. They are currently seeking and knowledgeable and experienced Kitchen Team Leader to join the team in their busy restaurant. This a fast-paced role, preparing and serving good quality food, and would suit someone with previous experience in a similar position, with a high volume of customers and a quick turnover.

Key responsibilities:

  • Working alongside the kitchen leader to ensure the smooth running of the restaurant food service.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant kitchen health and safety policies, food hygiene standards, and company operating procedures.
  • Be knowledgeable about any current promotions, events, and menu items, sharing this information with both the team and customers.
  • Enforce compliance with all aspects of licensing laws, food safety regulations, and health and safety standards.
  • Ensure accurate recording of fridge/freezer temperatures, food checks, and other necessary documentation as required.
  • Provide a safe, legal, and comfortable working environment, ensuring all policies are followed, including age verification and alcohol service procedures.
  • Manage kitchen stock levels, monitor wastage, and ensure portion control.
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation, ensuring all dishes meet the required specifications and quality standards.
  • Ensure food is served to customers in a timely manner, meeting food delivery time targets and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Lead, motivate, and support a team of kitchen associates to deliver consistently high standards of food and service.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience in a similar position.
  • Be able to work under pressure, producing high volumes of food with a quick turnover.
  • Understand the need to prepare and serve good quality food to high standards.
  • Be passionate about food and customer service
  • Remain calm under pressure and are able to manage time effectively to ensure the kitchen runs smoothly.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  •  Food hygiene certificates are desirable but not essential as full training can be provided.
  • Basic computer literacy for stock management and training purposes.

The role is full-time, working 4 days per week, 9:00am ‘til 6:00pm, in addition to alternate weekends. This role offers a work place pension, 20% staff discount, bonus schemes, long service awards and opportunities for development.

SALARY: £12.50 P/H (circa £26k/year)
