Plant Area Assistant Manager Vacancy
Are you a passionate plant enthusiast with experience in leadership? Our bustling, independent garden centre is seeking a dedicated Plant Area Assistant Manager to join our team and help us to continue the journey of our successful business of 4 generations. We operate on a site of over 10 acres, and our business has been flourishing since 1938 which originally started life as a seed growing company.
Job Role:
- Supporting the Plant Area Manager, who has been in the business over 10 years, overseeing daily operations, motivating and guiding a team of plantcare specialists.
- Provide expert advice and exceptional customer service, helping customers choose the perfect plants for their gardens and needs.
- Maintain the health and quality of our diverse plantstock, ensuring optimal presentation and care.
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and merchandising, ensuring our plant area is always well-stocked and visually appealing.
- Create stunning and engaging seasonal displays that capture the imagination of our customers.
Requirements:
- Strong passion for plants and horticulture.
- Proven experience in a retail or nursery environment.
- Excellent plant knowledge, including care requirements and identification.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- A proactive and problem-solving attitude.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving plants.
- Ideally, a horticultural qualification (RHS, NVQ, etc.) is desirable but not essential.

- Hours: Full-time, including weekends and bank holidays.
