An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and committed gardener to maintain and further develop a beautiful hillside garden in the Highlands of Scotland (Dingwall area). 

The garden extends to approximately 6 acres comprising mixed native woodland with some new native tree planting. A stream running through the garden is a lovely feature for further enhancement.  Lawns extend around the house and there are meadow areas and grassy paths through the garden.  Mixed shrub and herbaceous borders are around the house and a recently restored stone steading sits in an elevated position and has been recently landscaped to include paths, lawn and borders. 

The ideal candidates will be a keen plants person with a thorough knowledge of horticulture and an enthusiasm for enhancing a garden in a unique setting.  This position would suit a creative and innovative person with a commitment to maintain and develop the full potential of this woodland garden. There is ample scope for the sole gardener to be part of a creative endeavour to enhance a special garden with far reaching and beautiful views of Ben Wyvis in one direction and view towards the Cromarty Firth in the other.

Applicants should ideally have a minimum level 2 horticultural qualification, PA1/PA6 spray certificates and chainsaw certificate. He / She will have good plant and tree knowledge and excellent technical skills.  Basic maintenance of garden machinery is required, maintaining log supplies, occasional DIY/maintenance skills. The Sole Gardener will need to be very organised, able to plan and prioritise workload and work to a high standard.

Offsite accommodation could be provided if required.

SALARY:       £25,000 – £30,000 depending on experience
