Our client is a family run independent business that is now seeking an experienced Plant Area Manager to join their team in Cheltenham. The independent business is known for our premium indoor and outdoor horticulture, quality gifts, homeware, and exceptional restaurants. Responsibilities

As the Plant Area Manager, you will be responsible for the plant care and maintenance of the garden center’s plant area, managing stock levels, offering customer support, and leading a small team. You will ensure that plant displays are visually appealing and stocked with a diverse variety of plants. Key responsibilities include:

  • Plant care & maintenance: Oversee plant health, watering, feeding, and seasonal care practices.
  • Stock management: Order plants, receive deliveries, and maintain the display’s visual appeal.
  • Customer service: Provide expert horticultural advice, assist with plant selection, and promote seasonal products.
  • Sales management: Work with the management team to set sales targets, analyse sales trends, and manage expenses.
  • Team leadership: Delegate tasks, train staff, and ensure high standards of plant care and customer service.
  • Safety: Maintain a safe environment for staff and customers, regularly checking for hazards.

Skills and Experience

  • Garden centre experience with strong retail and horticultural skills.
  • Passion for plants and credible plant knowledge, ideally supported by qualifications (RHS 2/3 or equivalent).
  • Experience with visual merchandising and creating engaging plant displays.
  • Team leadership experience, with a strong eye for detail and high standards.
  • IT and organisational skills

The Offer

  • Full-time, permanent role with a 39.5-hour average work week.
  • A 2-week rotating schedule, alternating between 4 weekdays and alternate weekends.

  • Salary of up to £30,000 depending on experience.
