Our client is a family run fruit farm based in Co. Wexford with three generations of fruit growing knowledge. Together with a dedicated team they produce consistent top quality fresh fruit which they make available to wholesale and retail outlets countrywide at affordable prices. They farm their fruit using both traditional and modern methods. They have some exciting plans to expand in the future and are now recruiting for a full time Packhouse Manager to help oversee the expansion.

Job Brief

The Packhouse Manager will take responsibility for the busy seasonal packhouse in a key position within the business. Reporting to Director level, the packhouse Manager will manage the packhouse team effectively to meet retail customer expectations. Achieving set deadlines and targets, the successful individual will take charge for the packhouse operations, to include staff management, quality control and despatch.

Key Responsibilities

-Manage & implement a quality production team

-Meet production plans by managing line packers’ work schedules

-Ensuring all packhouse employees are capable and have received the required training

-Establishing and maintaining team building, motivation & communication within the packhouse

-Ensuring all targets and budgets are met

-In-depth understanding of customer specifications and adhere to these specifications at all times

-Continuous strive to improve productivity and process flows with quality as a priority

-Cold chain protocols strictly observed

-Customer service and communication skills must be of a high standard

-Compliance to quality assurance standards

-Ensuring high standards of health & safety practices

-Duty roster for week and weekend

Candidate Skills 

The ideal candidate will have a positive can-do attitude and enjoy being part of a team as well as being able to lead a team when required. The role would suit an energetic person who is committed to motivating and coaching the packhouse team to ensure the quality and efficiency requirements are met.

-Two years’ experience in a similar role (required).

-A good knowledge of the English language (required).

-Must be computer literate (required).

Shift patterns will vary, season depending. Weekend work is also required.
