Our client is a family owned, leading domestic landscape business based in the West Midlands, that has been established for nearly 50 years, offering an extensive range of homegrown, quality plant material. Customers from the trade, design, landscape, and commercial sectors can tap into their wealth of experience and horticultural knowledge to guide them through their plant selections. As part of the company’s ambitious growth and diversification plans, they have expanded their wholesale Cash & Carry operations at their 4-acre Nursery site. The company has plans to expand further its trading activity into the landscape market and thus has created an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated person with a can-do attitude to join their friendly, people focused team as a Nursery Production Supervisor to grow alongside the business.
The role requires a person with experience and a proactive approach to nursery work. You will be expected to work closely with the sales team to achieve required quality for sale. To assist the nursery in the production of a range of perennials, trees and shrubs while also maintaining quality of traded stock. There is much room for growth within the position so the ideal candidate will have the drive and passion to progress within the company.
-Work from production plans to meet the needs of the business
-Assist with plant health, production, and stock rotation
-Work to systems and processes to assist in the efficiencies and compliance of the department
-Be aware of budgets and produce plants in line with company targets
-Assist upkeep of irrigation system and growing structures.
-Maintaining the stocks cultural requirements, i.e. weeding, feeding, pruning, spraying tying etc.
-Maintain quality and appearance of stock on cash & carry site
-Ensuring company Quality standards are adhered to.
-Make sure that the nursery is always tidy and looks appealing to visiting customers.
-Understanding Health & Safety, Environmental and other Regulatory procedures when necessary.
-Work with other team members to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the company.
-Ensure all equipment is maintained and stored safely.
-Occasionally provide cover in other areas of the business.
The ideal candidate will hold strong experience and have a pro-active approach to nursery production and hold experience of growing hardy nursery stock. PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates are preferred but not essential. You will be expected to work closely with the management team suggesting new ideas and exploring new opportunities.
-Working hours 8am – 5pm Monday to Friday (Due to the nature of the role a flexible approach to these hours is required)
-40-hour week (some overtime will be required)
-Pension scheme with up to 3% contribution matching
-23 Days holiday per annum plus public holidays
