Salary: SCP 33-39 – £42,708 – £48,710 (Pay award pending)

Dunstable Town Council is looking for a passionate and experienced Grounds Operations Manager to ensure that we continue to provide high quality, award winning grounds, parks and public realm services.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Providing professional advice and taking operational responsibility for the day-to-day functions of the grounds maintenance and town ranger teams.
    Ensuring that all grounds maintenance operations are undertaken in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner.
  • Driving performance improvement.
  • Overseeing improvement projects, including playgrounds, multi-use games areas, and grounds management plans.
  • Inspiring confidence in colleagues, through strong leadership, cross departmental working and strong motivation.
  • Engaging with a variety of stakeholders, fostering collaboration, and promoting best practices.
  • Supporting the town’s In-Bloom campaigns to maintain our regular Gold awards.

  • A strong knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and best practice relating to all grounds maintenance activities.
  • A team player with strong people skills who can work across multiple services.
  • Someone who enjoys solving problems and finding creative solutions.
  • A significant level of practical management experience within grounds maintenance and a proven ability to manage a direct workforce.
  • A strong ability to plan and programme routine activity and one-off improvement projects.
  • An effective communicator.
  • A ‘completer-finisher’ who takes pride in seeing projects through to the end.
