Our client is a fast-growing and well-established horticultural services company specialising in the maintenance and development of high-end domestic gardens across London. The business is led by a mother-and-daughter team and has built a reputation through exceptional service, with the majority of new work generated through word-of-mouth referrals and client recommendations.
They have developed a collaborative, supportive, and hands-on working culture, where quality, professionalism, and strong client relationships are at the heart of everything they do. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to join their expanding team and help support the next stage of the company’s development.
Role Overview
As a Maintenance Manager, you will take responsibility for managing and maintaining a portfolio of premium residential gardens and selected commercial landscapes across London.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role requiring strong horticultural knowledge, excellent plant care skills, and a genuine passion for creating and maintaining beautiful gardens. The successful candidate will be highly organised, capable of managing their own workload, and comfortable balancing routine maintenance, seasonal priorities, garden development projects, and ad hoc client requirements.
Working closely with the business owners, you will also support the delivery of garden design and planting projects throughout the year, helping to ensure clients receive an exceptional service at every stage.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, detail-driven garden maintenance across a portfolio of premium residential gardens and selected commercial properties, with a strong emphasis on plant presentation and health.
- Carry out skilled horticultural tasks including pruning, planting, lawn care, and seasonal garden development.
- Implement pest and disease control strategies to maintain plant health.
- Oversee, install, and maintain irrigation systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Ensure all gardens and landscapes are maintained to exceptional standards.
- Manage tools, materials, plant stock, job sheets, and company vehicle presentation.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional communication and excellent record-keeping.
- Support the delivery of garden design and planting projects, assisting with installations and seasonal enhancements as required.
- Respond proactively to ad hoc client requests and changing seasonal priorities.
- Identify opportunities to improve and enhance clients’ gardens and contribute ideas towards their ongoing development and seasonal planning.
Skills & Attributes
- Proven experience in horticulture, landscaping, or garden maintenance.
- Excellent plant knowledge, including identification, care requirements, pest and disease management, seasonal requirements, and pruning techniques.
- Experience managing high-quality domestic gardens, with exposure to commercial landscapes being advantageous.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Confident in a client-facing role, with professional, polite, and respectful communication skills.
- A positive, honest and respectful attitude and the ability to work effectively within a close-knit, collaborative team environment.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities throughout the year.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to undergo a DBS check.
Location
Based in South West London, properties covered in Central and S/W.
