Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Graduate Horticultural Irrigation Technician to join their expanding team.

Career Progression

This role offers a clearly defined development pathway with excellent earning potential.

Typical progression includes:

Graduate / Trainee Technician (0-12 Months)

  • Learn irrigation installation and servicing
  • Develop practical site skills
  • Gain experience alongside experienced engineers
  • Build knowledge of irrigation systems and controls

Irrigation Technician (12-24 Months)

  • Carry out servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Diagnose basic faults
  • Begin working independently on customer sites

Service Irrigation Engineer (2-4 Years)

  • Independently service and repair irrigation systems
  • Commission new systems
  • Carry out fault finding and diagnostics
  • Manage customer projects

Senior / Lead Irrigation Engineer (4-6 Years)

  • Lead projects
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Take ownership of complex installations
  • Support technical development across the business

Salary progression reflects your technical development, increasing from approximately £27,800 at entry level to circa £60,000 as an experienced Service Irrigation Engineer.

About the Role

Working alongside experienced engineers, you’ll help install, service, maintain and repair irrigation systems across a wide variety of commercial and private horticultural environments.

Projects include:

  • Private estates
  • Country houses
  • High-end residential gardens
  • Commercial landscapes
  • Large-scale landscape developments
  • Sports and amenity landscapes

No two days are the same, providing excellent variety and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

As your experience develops, your responsibilities will include:

  • Installing irrigation systems
  • Servicing and maintaining irrigation equipment
  • Diagnosing and repairing irrigation faults
  • Assisting with electrical and control system diagnostics
  • Working on pumps, tanks and filtration systems
  • Commissioning irrigation systems
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance
  • Responding to customer breakdowns and emergency call-outs
  • Completing digital reports using company tablets
  • Delivering high standards of workmanship and customer service
  • Following health and safety procedures at all times

About You

Applications are welcomed from candidates with a genuine interest in horticulture, irrigation or landscape services.

You may be:

  • A horticulture graduate
  • Qualified in Commercial or Amenity Horticulture
  • An RHS Level 2 or Level 3 qualified horticulturist
  • Working in landscaping or grounds maintenance
  • Looking to specialise within irrigation
  • Keen to build a long-term technical career

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Horticulture degree, diploma or equivalent horticultural qualification, or relevant practical horticultural experience
  • Passion for horticulture and working outdoors
  • Good practical problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Well organised and reliable
  • Comfortable using digital technology and tablets
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 7:30am – 4:30pm
  • 40 hours per week
  • One weekend in four, as required
  • Occasional overnight stays (hotel accommodation and subsistence fully provided)
