Role Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced and passionate Garden Maintenance Manager to join their close-knit team. The successful candidate will lead and oversee a team of six experienced gardeners, managing a client base of approximately 45 gardens across Oxfordshire. The gardens vary from smaller private gardens to larger country estates, generally within around a 45-minute commute of the company yard.
This is a hands-on position, split approximately 50/50 between working within the gardens and managing the team. Alongside overseeing the gardening team and schedules, you will be the main point of contact for clients, providing advice on their gardens and ensuring a consistently high standard of service.
The role would suit an experienced gardener with strong plant knowledge who is confident leading a team and communicating directly with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Garden Maintenance & Horticultural Duties:
- Leading, supporting, mentoring and coordinating a team of six gardeners.
- Working hands-on within the gardens alongside the team or independently.
- Being the main point of contact for clients and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Ensuring gardens are maintained to a consistently high standard.
- Monitoring the health and development of the gardens and advising on their ongoing care.
- Planning and coordinating the gardening schedule across approximately 45 client gardens.
- Carrying out regular checks across the gardens to monitor progress and standards.
- Liaising with suppliers and coordinating with other teams within the business.
- Identifying any issues within the gardens and ensuring these are addressed appropriately.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Full clean UK driving licence.
- Previous experience in a professional horticultural or garden maintenance position.
- Strong practical gardening and plant knowledge.
- Previous experience supervising or leading a gardening team.
- Good communication and client-facing skills.
- Organised and able to manage multiple gardens and priorities.
- Good understanding of health and safety within a horticultural environment.
Desirable
- PA1 & PA6 spraying certificates.
- Relevant machinery tickets, such as chainsaw qualifications.
- Relevant horticultural qualifications or industry training.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 7:30am – 16:30
