The business combines traditional farming expertise with modern agricultural practices to produce high-quality specialist crops supplied across the UK and beyond.
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Farm Worker to join on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting all aspects of specialist crop production, machinery operation and general farm maintenance.
Working closely with the Farm Foreman and Farm Manager, you will play an integral role in the day-to-day running of the farm, carrying out practical farming duties throughout the growing season. This position would suit someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating agricultural machinery and being involved in every stage of crop production.
Key Responsibilities
Farm Operations & Crop Production
- Assist with the day-to-day farming operations across the specialist crop farm.
- Carry out planting, cultivation and harvesting activities.
- Undertake soil preparation and field maintenance.
- Support all aspects of crop husbandry throughout the growing season.
- Assist with irrigation, crop monitoring and general field work.
- Carry out spraying operations where qualified and instructed.
- Ensure crops are maintained to a consistently high standard.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and best agricultural practices.
Harvest Operations
- Assist with the annual harvest and crop processing.
- Operate harvesting equipment and machinery.
- Help prepare harvested crops for storage and distribution.
- Support the wider team during busy seasonal periods.
- Work additional hours during harvest when required.
Machinery & Equipment
- Operate tractors, forklifts, telehandlers and other farm machinery where qualified.
- Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning and daily safety checks on machinery.
- Report mechanical faults promptly.
- Assist with minor repairs and general workshop duties.
- Ensure machinery is kept clean, safe and operational.
Estate & General Farm Maintenance
- Assist with fencing, ditching and drainage maintenance.
- Carry out hedge cutting, grass management and general estate upkeep.
- Maintain farm buildings, yards and storage areas.
- Support environmental stewardship and conservation projects across the farm.
- Keep the farm tidy, organised and presentable.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have previous practical farming experience, ideally gained within specialist crops, soft fruit, top fruit, arable farming, vegetable production or another commercial agricultural enterprise. Applicants with some practical agricultural experience who are keen to broaden their knowledge within specialist crop production are encouraged to apply.
Essential requirements include:
- Previous practical farming or agricultural experience.
- Experience operating agricultural machinery.
- Good understanding of safe working practices.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to carry out machinery maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence and own transport.
- Flexible approach to working hours during busy seasonal periods.
Desirable skills include:
- PA1 and PA2 spraying certificates.
- Forklift and/or Telehandler certification.
- Experience within specialist crop, top fruit or soft fruit production.
- Welding or fabrication experience.
- Knowledge of environmental stewardship or conservation work.
