Belton Garden Centre are recruiting for an experienced PLANT AREA MANAGER to join their independent, family run Garden Centre.

Tuesday to Saturday 08.30 - 17.15 (42.25hrs)

Start Date: ASAP

Working with 2 plant area assistants, this is a key role in the centre’s team. This includes hardy, seasonal and indoor plants.

Ideal candidates will have:

-Extensive Garden Centre & Plant Area experience

-Excellent plant knowledge

-Ability to lead, inspire and manage the plant area team

-Plant sourcing & buying experience

-An approachable & customer focussed manner

-Oversee the day to day plant area operation, create impulsive and inspiring displays & develop linked sales

Highly desirable skills also include familiarity with fully integrated EPOS stock management systems and up to date first aid qualification.

This role also includes adaptability to assist in other departments, subject to seasonal demand.

Salary will be dependent upon experience.

Grower Supervisor - J643

Our client is a specialist Clematis and Climber producer which also produces a large range of Fuchsias, Evergreen, Shrubs and Fruit Bushes producing in excess of 5 million units, over 15 acres of glasshouses and tunnels over 4 sites. They have a dedicated propagation unit producing over 3 million units supplying most of the supermarkets and multiples. They are currently seeking a Grower Supervisor to cover the propagation unit and hardy nursery stock unit. 

Do you have experience in production horticulture and knowledge of growing principles?

Are you self-motivated and happy to carry out instruction?

Can you work independently with good attention to detail?

Key points
  • Maintaining Glasshouse environments and recording data
  • Crop trimming and spacing as required
  • Mixing and applying feeds and checking nutrient levels
  • Monitoring for P&D and reporting to the Technical Manager
  • Supervision of cultural staff
Must haves
  • Knowledge of growing principles including irrigation and crop protection
  • Qualification in production horticulture
  • PA1 & PA6 spraying certificates
  • A positive attitude with good team leadership skills
