A genuine career opportunity has arisen for a well presented and experienced gardener, based in Enfield, serving North London and surrounding counties.  This well established and respected company provides garden care for commercial properties and prestigious private estates alike.

The BALI registered, SAFE Contractor approved company employ an existing team of five staff, and are now looking to grow in line with increased customer demand.  The company are looking for an experienced gardener to join the team at foreman level, though they are more than willing to employ an experienced operative with potential to grow into the foreman role.  Applicants should therefore have demonstrable experience in a similar role, i.e. of private estate gardens. 

At operative level the work will involve general garden and grounds maintenance; hedge cutting, mowing, spraying, weeding, management of beds/borders and general seasonal horticultural duties.  Candidates at foreman level will be expected to provide direction to staff in terms of safety, machinery operation and basic maintenance, technique, and the application of correct horticultural practices at all times.

Applicants will ideally hold an academic horticultural qualification and spray certificates (PA1/6), though this is not essential if you can demonstrate a suitable level of hands-on experience.  A driving licence is essential, as is the ability to present yourself well to clients.

Part – time Groundsperson & Gardener- Live Out- EC4153

A fantastic new position has arisen for a part time, self-employed, enthusiastic and experienced grounds person/gardener working under the direction of the Garden Manager and her small team on a beautiful 200 acre Georgian estate near Winchester.

The family owned friendly estate comprises 100 acres of farmed land, historic ancient woodland, sweeping parkland and a two acre walled garden designed by one of the country’s leading RHS Gold Medal landscape designers.

The successful applicant will need excellent references and a hard working approach with great attention to detail. In return, the applicant will get the opportunity to be well remunerated and work with a friendly team, who are equally dedicated, in one of the most beautiful privately owned country estates in Hampshire that is maintained to the highest of standards.

A PA1/PA6 spray certificate and chainsaw licence would be preferable but training in both these areas can be offered if necessary. Typically, the role will involve mowing, hedge and topiary cutting, weeding, pruning, pond maintenance, leaf clearing, knowledge of garden machinery. The gardens are not open to the public but do have private charity garden tours during the summer months.

Above all, the successful candidate needs to be trustworthy, conscientious, wanting to work as part of a fantastic team, reliable, physically fit, self-motivated and have a great positive attitude. You must be somebody who can be relied upon to work on their own when the Garden Manager is not on site and the owners are away.   A full UK driving licence is essential.

A very attractive opportunity has arisen for a Skilled Gardener to join an established and friendly team on a large 18th century estate in Cambridgeshire.  The position is offered with a generous salary and accommodation for the ideal candidate.  The grade two listed building is surrounded by 22 acres of land with 8.5 acres of formal gardens, a large lake and mature trees throughout. 

The estate has been extensively landscaped, with ornamental gardens that have been developed over the last 65 years.  The grounds are often open to the public for special events so are maintained to a very high standard by the team, under the guidance of a talented Head Gardener.  The grounds comprise of fine ancient trees, extensive lawns, an old-fashioned rose circle, double herbaceous borders and a bog garden.  There are many follies designed by Peter Foster around the garden including a gothic trellis and a pavilion at the end of a five acre lake.

The role will entail year-round maintenance of lawns, hedge cutting, tree care, pruning of shrubs, weeding of beds/borders and pathways.  Gravel and paved areas are sprayed as required. The clients have a kitchen garden, so applicants with experience in this area are encouraged to apply.  Candidates should be suitably qualified gardeners with academic horticultural qualifications and previous experience of working as part of a team in large private estate gardens.

 A two bedroom cottage is offered with the position with a minimal rent of £25/month. Council tax is paid by the employer, but all bills (water, electricity etc.) must be paid by the successful candidate.  The property comprises of a lounge and fitted kitchen, bathroom, a small lawn to the rear, and private parking.

Skilled Gardener - Live Out - EC4134

A picturesque private estate situated in West Berkshire requires an enthusiastic and experienced gardener.  The ideal candidate will have excellent plant knowledge, all round horticultural skills, and the ability to work as part of a small team of gardeners. It would be preferable, but not essential, for applicants to have had experience working in a large private garden of a similar nature. Flexible hours/part time considered for the right applicant.  

The 10 acre gardens comprise sizeable flower beds, small vegetable garden, greenhouse, large areas of lawns, woodland and river frontage. The traditional English country garden is undergoing the redesign of some elements, therefore candidates should be willing to work enthusiastically alongside the owner and designer to implement and care for the new planting. The client is primarily looking for someone with a great eye for detail and excellent horticultural knowledge as the basic gardening tasks, i.e. hedge cutting and mowing, are managed by existing maintenance staff. Candidates should be trustworthy and understand estate etiquette and client confidentiality. They should also be prepared to assist the Estate Manager and other members of the team with other estate tasks when required.

The estate has a welcoming environment, therefore applicants must have a friendly and flexible approach to work, with a willingness to work hard and be an integral part of a small friendly team. The residence is a secondary home and can be very busy during the summer, therefore you will be expected to work longer hours at this time, with time off in lieu during the quieter periods.

An enthusiastic Gardener/Labourer is required to join a team of gardeners managing a prestigious 5 acre garden in Central London that is currently undergoing a complete restoration and transformation.
