A rare opportunity has arisen for an Experienced Sole Gardener to manage a historic 7 acre private estate in Normandy, France. The owners have commissioned a renowned British Landscape designer to redesign the garden that will be developed over the ensuing years.

The garden will eventually incorporate:

  • Topiary
  • Woodland
  • Clipped Yew and Hornbeam
  • Herbaceous borders
  • Vegetable garden
  • Formal lawns
  • Rose garden
  • Swimming pool
  • Orchard

Applicants must have a working knowledge of French, ideally have a formal horticultural qualification and a good knowledge of garden machinery to include ride on mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters, etc. Proven hands on experience working in a large private estate garden and comprehensive knowledge of the majority of the areas described above is also essential.

Additionally applicants must be capable of pruning, planting, lawn care and be prepared to weed, undertake leaf collection and other routine garden maintenance tasks to a consistently high standard. As part of the role you will also need to be aware of and implement health and safety standards into the work place.  PA1/PA6 spray certificate and a chainsaw licence would also be an advantage as would any experience working with garden designers.

SALARY: €19,200 per annum + car and discretionary bonus.
