Position Filled

Sole Gardener – EC3800

From English Country Gardeners

A superb new vacancy has arisen for a Sole Gardener / Handyman to manage a beautiful 19acre private estate near Stamford in Northamptonshire alongside an existing part-time assistant. The estate includes a 2 acre walled garden with terracing that contains topiary, amenity lawns, shrubbery and herbaceous borders. Other areas include a lake, swimming pool and tennis court, driveways, paddocks, orchard and a large number of mature trees and further lawns.

Applications are sought from suitably experienced and passionate gardeners who have comprehensive knowledge of plants, trees, shrubs, and their care. A horticultural qualification would be desirable as would spray and chainsaw certificates. This is a very hands on role for somebody to work with minimal supervision who is able to plan and prioritise work schedules throughout the year and advise the owners on the future development of the garden and grounds.  Other duties will include some handyman tasks and estate duties as required.

The owners are looking to develop the garden further such as growing fresh produce, create a lawn care regime and continue planting up and developing areas of the grounds to a level where it could become a show garden.

The Sole Gardener will have assistance from a part-time assistant who will help in mowing the lawns and will help to look after the topiary. There will also be contractors for other works.

A full clean UK driving licence is required as the owners have a 4wd drive single cab Toyota Hilux the gardener will use as part of his work.
