We have a fantastic opportunity for a Horticultural Manager to join a family-run, independent garden centre in the Inverness area of Scotland. If you have extensive horticultural knowledge and purchasing experience, this full-time, permanent position could be your perfect next step.

Responsibilities

As the Horticultural Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and developing our clients’ thriving plant sales department. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a small team of dedicated staff.
  • Driving plant sales and supporting related initiatives.
  • Providing face-to-face sales assistance and managing customer enquiries.
  • Collaborating with suppliers to ensure well-stocked departments that meet customer demand.
  • Maintaining high standards of presentation, merchandising, and pricing strategies.
  • Attending trade shows.
  • Purchasing stock, ensuring budgets are kept to.
  • Attending site visits.

Your role is integral to maintaining our client’s commitment to exceptional customer service, offering friendly and informed advice that has been a cornerstone of our success. Your expertise will ensure continued customer satisfaction and uphold their distinguished company reputation. 

Key Qualifications:

  • Strong horticultural knowledge and experience.
  • Proven supervisory or managerial experience in a garden centre or similar retail environment.
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop a team.
  • Energetic, creative, and positive attitude.
  • Excellent customer engagement skills.
  • Good physical fitness for working on your feet and handling heavy lifting.
  • Strong IT and numeracy skills.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred but not essential.

This role is ideal for someone currently holding a Plantarea Supervisor or Manager position, or similar, and is ready to advance their career. You will bring energy, creativity, and a passion for engaging with the public, ensuring the garden centre continues to flourish.
