Our client is an independently owned garden centre, the family has grown the business significantly over the years. This modern garden centre offers its customer a wonderful range of plants, shrubs, houseplants, garden sundries, cut flowers, furniture and much, much more. In addition, the centre has a highly successful food hall.

They are currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Plantarea Manager to lead a growing team of passionate staff. They pride themselves on delivering exceptional quality and choice. Continuously looking to improve standards and the customer experience within the indoor and outdoor plantarea. The client is looking for someone who can take ownership of the plant department and create inspirational and aspirational displays with a commercial mind. Ensure stock availability of the highest standards, whilst offering exceptional customer service.

The successful candidate would be responsible for managing and leading the department in order that customers have a truly unique experience. They are driven to achieve a real ‘WOW’ factor and customer delight is their only goal. You will be responsible for driving sales, profitability and achieving sales targets as set out by the Garden Centre Manager. It is important for the business that all their staff feel a great sense of empowerment, so you can really make this role your own.

Main Responsibilities:

-Overseeing all day-to-day operational requirements of the Plant area and department.

-Ensuring the identification, prioritisation and allocation of tasks for all the Plant Team are met.

-Planning and delivering seasonal priority stock lines such as Christmas trees and summer bedding.

-Manage customer complaints and answer all customer enquiries by email, telephone or in person being dealt with efficiently and in a timely manner.

-Compilation of staffing rotas and thoroughly managing staff hours.

-Ability to cover interviews and recruit for the department as and when required.

-Good knowledge of all departmental items sold.

-Merchandising products on the shop floor to create an inspiring and safe shopping experience.

-Stock rotation, aware of the best sellers and deadlines, move stock quickly as necessary.

-Generate ideas to support the development and efficiency of the Plant area department.

-Planning and managing staffing levels for indoor and outdoor plant area whilst working with the partners on the needs of the business.
