The Plant Area Manager will lead and inspire the team in achieving all retail deliverables, whilst ensuring an exceptional high standard of customer care.
The successful candidate will have a passion for horticulture, lead and motivate a vibrant team of plant area assistants who demonstrate a passion to exceed customer’s expectations and a commitment to exceptional standards.
-Extensive horticultural knowledge
-Minimum of 2 years proven managerial experience in retails, preferably within garden centres
-Demonstrates a professional, enthusiastic and flexible approach
-Exceptional attention to detail and forward-thinking ethos
-Able to promote excellent team work to achieve exceptional customer experience
-Demonstrates strong people management skills
-Able to be responsive to challenges and demonstrates a ‘can do’ approach
-Knowledgeable in maintaining and monitoring H&S on site
-Able to work with energy, pace and passion
-Efficient organisational and prioritisation skills
-Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
-Responsible for the financial management of the plant area, this includes assisting in the preparation and management of the budgets and analysing weekly sales performance
-Responsible for the ordering of products as per seasonal requirements, liaising with suppliers and buyers accordingly
-Responsible for merchandising to maximise sales opportunities, promoting stock in key areas as and when required
-Responsible for stock management within the plant area. To include monitoring wastage and discounting to achieve maximum profit
-Working as part of the wider team and carrying out duty manager responsibilities
-Identify and coordinate staff development in conjunction with the Garden Centre Manager, Identifying potential skills and knowledge gaps within the centre
-Lead and promote the highest standards of customer care and service at all times
-Manage the promotion of the brand in store, by developing good local public relations and managing the active promotion of the Gardening Club
-Create and maintain a safe working environment for staff and customers and visitors to site ensuring the compliance with Health and Safety Policy.
-Conduct regular appraisals of all staff, encourage performance feedback and use as a forum to discuss developmental needs.
-Run meetings with staff to update and inform key information (promotions, targets, management messages etc.) as necessary.
