Main purpose of role:
Our client, a successful and independent family-run garden centre, is looking for a Plantarea Manager to contribute to and help organize initiatives aimed at enhancing the Centre’s growth and meeting its established goals and objectives. This role will be instrumental in supporting the Centre’s ongoing success and driving forward its mission.
Responsibilities include:
In this role, you will provide outstanding customer service while driving sales within the department. You’ll lead, motivate, and develop the team by overseeing performance and addressing ongoing training needs. Responsibilities include ensuring the attractive presentation and display of a wide variety of plants and related products, as well as maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and precise stock management. You’ll oversee the overall aesthetics of the department to meet quality and visual standards, while ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety regulations throughout the area.
Sales:
Achieve sales targets by providing exceptional customer service and collaborating with other departments for cross-selling opportunities.
Staff:
Deliver ongoing hands-on training, hold team meetings, maintain professional presentation standards, manage daily/weekly schedules, and ensure adequate department staffing.
Display, Merchandising, and Layout:
Maintain high cleanliness and presentation standards, ensure clear pricing, and keep promotional areas stocked and signed. Oversee department layout and customer flow.
Buying, Ordering, and Stock Control:
Manage stock within budget, control cash flow requirements, and maintain gross margin targets. Oversee ordering, receiving, quality checks, and pricing.
Duty Manager Responsibilities:
When assigned, open and secure the Garden Centre, ensure readiness for sales, manage break schedules, and ensure adequate coverage across departments.
Requirements:
Operate a telescopic forklift for deliveries (training available) and use a company van for customer deliveries.
Offer:
Full-time, permanent role with a 2-week rotating schedule—four weekdays and alternate weekends.
