Our client is an independent garden centre offering a fantastic variety and diverse range of excellent quality plants and Horticultural products. The centre manager together with the team, strive to cater for every gardening requirement and pride themselves on their customer service and ability to make a visit to the centre a pleasurable experience. Their expert team are always ready to provide expert advice in all areas of the centre. There is a vast range of quality stock from hardy nursery stock, bedding plants, herbaceous plants, trees, and shrubs.  A Plantarea Manager is now required to join the team, reporting directly to the Garden Centre Manager, and taking responsibility for running and continuously improving the Plantarea Department.

Job Brief

Our client is looking for an exceptional candidate with previous experience in a similar environment and role.  As Plantarea Manager, you will deliver an exceptional service to customers, ensuring the quality of the plants are presented to a high standard. In this fact-paced, hands-on role, you will focus on all areas of plant care/sales. This position would suit those who have already gained some experience in garden centre retailing with good plant and product knowledge. You will be enthusiastic and keen to deliver high standards of plant retailing will have a flexible and adaptable approach and be a good team player.

Key Responsibilities

-Working with the Centre Manager to ensure the smooth running of the department.

-Presentation and displays of a vast range of exciting plants

-Creating an inspirational environment that is well maintained

-Good housekeeping standards across the department with accurate stock control

-Delivering excellent customer sales and service

-Working as part of a highly successful and efficient team

-Working proactively, enthusiastically and with drive to succeed.

-Keeping track of all KPI’s and targets.

-Providing cover for the Centre Manager when on business days off site, days off or holiday/sickness.

-Checking and receiving deliveries of product following the required procedure.

-Pricing, displaying, and merchandising of product to the required standards and implementing promotional changeovers.

-Develop, motivate, and lead the team as well as monitoring their performance and ongoing training.

-Ensuring a high level of customer service is maintained.

Candidate Skills 

The appointed person will have a sound knowledge of garden centre retailing with excellent plant knowledge and enjoy working as part of a team with good communication skills, will be self-motivated to achieve high standards and able to work on their own initiative with attention to detail in all aspects of the job.

As the Plantarea Manager, you’ll need to have the following experience: A proven track record in garden centre retailing: you will know this working environment well in terms of the products, as well as:

-Several years’ experience working in a Garden Centre environment

-You have excellent communication skills

-A meticulous eye for detail

-Excellent Plant knowledge

The working hours are 40 per week. Weekend work will be required on a rota basis 5/7 days.
