A fantastic opportunity has become available for someone to join one of the countries leading plant importers as a Nursery Manager. The successful candidate will be someone with experience within the horticultural industry, who is happy to head a team of 10 staff to ensure the nursery is kept to show room standards.
Our client has been established for over 40 years and currently occupies an area more than 7 acres. The company provides the wholesale supply and distribution of hardy shrubs, trees and ornamental plants to the nursery, garden centre, architectural, design and landscaping sectors.
Candidates will be required to manage stock control, organise maintenance across the nursery site, pest and disease management, plant husbandry and irrigation. The nursery manager will be responsible for ensuring all health and safety procedures are adhered to and staff have had adequate training to carry out all processes across the nursery including the safe use and maintenance of horticultural machinery.
Ideal candidates will possess excellent communication and networking skills, with a good working knowledge of plant husbandry and the ability to plan, prioritise and lead by example, ensuring that high standards of organisation and plant care are delivered from a team of highly motivated staff. Candidates should possess PA1 & PA6 spraying certificates and ideally have a forklift licence.
The position is a full-time permanent role, offering a competitive salary of £30,000 – 35,000 depending on experience. The annual leave is 33 days holiday including bank holidays. The working day 7:30am – 5:00pm Monday to Friday with some weekend hours during busier periods.
