Job Ref L603
Our client is a highly experienced, award-winning landscape design, build and maintenance company based in West Sussex. The majority of the company’s work comes from private residential gardens, with hard and soft landscaping projects being undertaken from conception to completion and maintained thereafter by the skilled gardens team. The company has been established for over 20 years and continues to grow, presenting an opportunity for a new employee with particular experience in lawn care to join the team of a full-time permanent basis.
The ideal candidate will have been working in the industry for a minimum of three years and will have specialist knowledge of lawn care, i.e., aeration, scarification, top dressing, weed control, feeding and pest and disease control. The role will also involve the ‘heavier’ side of garden maintenance such as hedge cutting and operation of garden machinery. Physical fitness and strength are therefore required of all applicants.
The successful applicant will be conscientious, well presented, able to work under their own initiative and have a positive attitude when it comes to working with colleagues, and for the benefit company’s loyal client base. A spray certificate (PA1/PA6) is essential for this role, as is a full UK driving licence. The standard working week will consist of approximately 40 hours with expected seasonal variation.
The company offer a flexible working scheme designed to allow employees to take time off for personal appointments/commitments etc without using annual leave. This approach also allows for the accommodation of shorter hours in times of poor weather and longer days in the busy summer/autumn months. Employees can build up credit hours to be taken as flexi-leave or paid overtime. There are also opportunities for overtime at weekends in busy periods. The company also offer a pension scheme, an additional day of annual leave to be taken over the Christmas period – over and above statutory entitlement of 28-days (including Bank Holidays). A proactive approach to external training opportunities is taken to ensure the continued development of the individual and team as a whole.
