This is a well-established, family-run landscaping business with deep roots in the horticultural industry — over five decades in operation – is looking for a Landscape project Manager. Over time the company has steadily grown while preserving a strong family ethos. They offer a full-service capability across design, construction, and planting, combining creative vision with practical horticultural experience. Their design work is comprehensive and bespoke, tailored to clients’ needs and budgets.
In addition, they operate a well-respected nursery, supplying a rich variety of plants — from perennials to large specimen trees —feeding both their own projects and external clients.
The team is loyal and highly skilled; many have been with the company for decades, contributing to a stable and respectful working culture. They also deliver commercial as well as residential landscaping work, managing complex large-scale contracts with rigorous health & safety standards and strong project-management systems.
About the Role:
The Landscapes Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing all landscape projects from quotation through to successful completion – ensuring delivery on time, on budget, and to the highest standards. This role combines strong project management expertise with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
The Landscapes Project Manager will work closely with the Landscape Designer and Project Administrator to ensure smooth project flow, exceptional client satisfaction, and efficient coordination of subcontractors.
The ideal candidate is highly organised, commercially aware, proactive, and able to drive results through clear leadership, problem-solving, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management and Delivery
- Manage multiple landscape projects from tender and quotation through to completion and handover.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Oversee and coordinate subcontractors to ensure all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to specification.
- Monitor progress on-site, identifying risks, resolving issues, and ensuring adherence to quality standards and timelines.
- Lead regular project meetings and maintain clear communication between all parties.
- Ensure all project documentation, variations, and client approvals are accurately tracked and recorded.
Financial and Commercial Oversight
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations in collaboration with the Landscape Designer and Project Administrator.
- Monitor project costs against budgets, ensuring profitability and cost control.
- Manage supplier relationships and procurement of materials within budget and specification.
- Support the Company Director in identifying opportunities for efficiency and margin improvement.
Team Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the Landscape Designer to ensure project design intent is achieved and practical requirements are met.
- Liaise daily with the Project Administrator to maintain accurate project documentation, progress reports, and invoicing records.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, ensuring clear communication, transparency, and trust throughout the project lifecycle.
- Promote teamwork, emotional intelligence, and strong communication across all internal and external stakeholders.
Health, Safety, and Quality
- Ensure all projects comply with relevant health and safety legislation, site rules, and company policies.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor safety, quality, and progress.
- Address non-conformance issues swiftly and constructively.
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvement in quality, safety, and environmental standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in managing projects within landscaping, construction, or a related environment.
- Strong track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Competence in reading and interpreting design drawings and technical documents.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and external suppliers.
- Proficiency with project management tools, Microsoft Office, and scheduling software.
- A background or qualification in landscape management, horticulture, construction, or project management is advantageous but not essential.
