My client is a family run business with over 40 years combined experience working on both commercial and domestic projects. Offering their clients a complete landscaping service from an initial consultation with their professional planting consultant to garden design, build and ongoing aftercare of the open spaces. They are now looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Landscape Gardener to join the team and assist in the companies ever growing success.
As a Landscape Gardener, you will be expected to be practical, adaptable, and skilled in the application of planting and horticulture and ideally hole some hard landscaping experience. The gardens within the client’s portfolio do require expert care, therefore strong plantsman knowledge with high attention to detail is key. The successful candidate will be involved in a range of landscaping activities which will include:
- Garden landscaping
- Installing seasonal planting schemes, flowerbeds, and borders
- Garden clearance
- Installing turf or re-turfing existing gardens
- Monitoring of irrigation systems & water features
- Garden maintenance
- Lawn care, strimming, and hedge trimming
- Seasonal cutbacks
- Hedge cutting
- Pest and disease control
Our client is looking for a friendly, motivated, and reliable candidate to become part of the Landscaping department and contribute to the quality of the service they provide and professionally represent the company. Applicants should have comprehensive hands-on experience in garden care and maintenance and an ability to carry out the finer aspects of horticulture, as well as the more physically demanding tasks. The suitable candidate will have prior experience working within the landscaping environment.
- Deliver first quality services on sites to their specification in a timely and efficient manner
- Demonstrate the ability to work well in a team and be able to follow instructions
- Show a good understanding of all health and safety regulations, and always adhering to them.
- Being able to confidently deal with horticultural maintenance matters on site.
- Excellent communication skills to successfully engage with customers, clients, and team members.
The successful candidate will be a people person, well-mannered and presentable, a full and clean UK driving licence with a strong horticultural knowledge and plant base, horticultural qualification(s) would be an advantage but not essential. Must have the ability to work on their own initiative both in a team and alone with good time management skills. This is also a route for someone who is ambitious to join a progressive company and develop into a role with more responsibility.
The ideal candidate will hold:
- A full UK manual driving licence is required (Maximum of 3 points)
- CSCS Card (desirable)
- Excellent plant knowledge
- Experience working within a similar environment
- Experience using a range of machinery
PA1/PA6a, and Chainsaw certificates are desirable, but not essential.
The Landscape team are required to travel to each client on a daily basis. This could involve numerous journeys each day or to be located at a fixed site for a period of time.
The role will be working Monday to Friday 7am – 4pm.
