The client offers a complete service from design and planning through to build, installation as well as adding the finishing touches. Based in Warwickshire, their purpose-built site brings the areas of expertise and team together, with a dedicated plant nursery to grow and house a huge range of beautiful trees, plants and cut flowers, a design studio, welding and carpentry workshop, a warehouse of interior items and props, and offices all under one roof.

They provide the complete experience to their clients, and have a strong portfolio of clients with trusted and loyal relationships.

Job brief

An experienced Horticulture Manager is sought after to take responsibility for the care and maintenance of all plant stock including both indoor and outdoor plants held within greenhouses, polytunnels and outdoor spaces.

You will be responsible for purchasing all necessary materials, plant feeds, pesticides etc. to enable you to perform your duties.

You will also be required to source, and purchase plants direct from Holland and other continental growers, as well as specialist liaising and building strong working relationships with Dutch suppliers and growers to source unique plants.

As part of the calendar of events you will manage a small team to assist with the maintenance and watering of plants and also the make-up of plants and planters for the events working to tight deadlines.

During certain times of the year, you may be asked to work with the team on event sites with prestigious clients, advising and leading the planting team and working to fulfil the client briefs to complete the spaces. There may also be an opportunity to work with clients on an international level.

We also have a number of onsite grounds contracts for high-level commercial and private clients, so you would be required to manage and maintain planting plans, landscaping and maintenance for these sites with a support team.

The position is both physically and mentally demanding with long working hours during the summer months. Strong management skills and an ability to adapt to fast moving changes are essential to the successful performance of this role.


-Liaise with Operations Director to make decisions for operational activities.

-Plan and execute annual plant maintenance schedule.

-Manage staff resourcing around busy periods.

-Management of small team.

-Purchasing of plant supplies from local suppliers.

-Purchasing of plants and trees from international suppliers

-Ensuring plants and trees are made up for events


-Proven experience as Horticulture Manager or equivalent position

-Strong horticulture experience and plant knowledge

-Relevant horticultural qualifications – preferred, not essential

-Proven experience of leading teams

-Able to demonstrate a strong background in garden centres/nurseries or horticultural environments

-Effective maintenance of all relevant nursery areas

-Strong plant knowledge and understanding of plant quality

-Computer Literate (Excel & Word)

-Good planning and organisational skills

-Ability to work to time pressures effectively in a fast moving and rapidly changing market

-Good interpersonal skills – A team player
