An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Gardening Assistant to join a well-established Garden Landscaping and Maintenance company based in central London. With over 30 years’ experience of working in high-end and challenging projects within London, they have the confidence and ability to oversee all aspects of maintenance and landscaping. Their garden maintenance service provides for everything needed to manage their clients outdoor space and get the very best out of it, and is a service offered to those gardens that they have designed and built over the years. Due to continued expansion and growth, they are now looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Gardening Assistant to join their highly skilled and motivated team.
He/ She will work alongside a small team, in delivering a wide range of garden maintenance services to clients, using your variety of skills and experience to achieve the very highest standards possible with an importance being placed on attention to detail. The successful candidate will have a professional approach when communicating with the client, while being physically fit and demonstrating a strong work ethic.
Applicants will have demonstrable horticultural experience, ideally supported by a horticultural qualification, Good plant knowledge is essential, alongside experience in the use of a variety of garden machinery associated with maintenance tasks, while completing tasks in an efficient and accurate manner. Individuals must be physically fit, while enjoying working in all weathers.
Regular garden maintenance services include all aspects of:
- Lawn maintenance including – mowing, aeration, spiking, scarification, fertiliser/weed/moss treatment programs, over-seeding, topdressing, and turfing.
- Hedge-cutting and shaping
- Plant care, including specialist training of roses and wisteria
- Weeding, garden clearance, and one-off tidy ups
- Pest and disease control and management,
- Soil maintenance, including fertiliser application programs and incorporating organic soil conditioners and green manures
- Installing and maintaining irrigation systems
- Planting
- Green roof and green wall maintenance
Additional certifications such as PA1/PA6 are desirable, but not essential. The client is willing to support professional development, and provide training where required.
This position is Monday to Friday, 45 hours a week with the working day beginning at 7:15 on site in Fulham, with a finish time of 5pm (season allowing). Additionally, in the summer months overtime is available.
