For more than 30 years, our client has been delivering high quality soft landscaping services to property developers across Southern England. The team of landscaping professionals excel in all aspects of delivering best in class soft landscaping for many of the country’s largest property developers. By managing projects with the skill and experience their clients have come to expect, on time delivery is at the heart of the business. They take pride in the presentation of the development and never loses sight of the objective; to present developments people want to call home. The client understands they have two customers to satisfy; the developer and the home buyer, which is why open communication channels for the duration of each project is vital.

An excellent opportunity has become available for a Quantity Surveyor ideally with a horticultural background. The position is key to the company’s future development and success, in delivering successful outcomes to all stakeholders on their growing portfolio of customers. The salary will be based on experience and the senior candidate will play a role in management on the leadership team. The successful applicant will engage with clients, build relationships with suppliers and carry out estimating and tendering accurately.

The successful person will be highly organized, ambitious to be involved in helping lead the growth of the business, strong in customer service, have a keen commercial acumen and an eye for detail. They need to be able to support projects from pre-contract to final account. The client is open to part remote working with 2 – 3 days based at the office.

Job Description:

-Liaise with the business development manager, account manager, production manager and operations.

-Building value added relationships with clients, suppliers and sub-contractors.

-Perform take off from plans for tender purposes.

-Work with the Account Manager and Business Development Manager to carry out pre and post tender/pricing negotiations to take a bid to contract status

-Maintain contract documentation and cost controls on pre-tender and post contract matters.

-Price and prepare written quotations, tenders and variations and orders for supplier and sub contractors.

-Prepare and issue contracts to clients and/or sub-contractors.

-Establish and work with a broad range of suppliers to ensure the best price for materials.  

-Ensure the company continues to improve process’s, operations and communications by, where required, suggesting new process and procedure.

-Preparation and submission of interim valuations, statements and contracts updates to customers

-Management and valuing of variations

-Completing hand over meetings with Production Manager once contracts are agreed.

-Agreement and certification of sub-contractors interim valuations and final accounts

-Preparation, submission and agreement of final account for customers

-Ongoing project reporting and reconciliation to ensure on budget completion of contracts.

-Supply regular analysis and reports as required and suggest improvements to procedures.

-Is self-motivated and ambitious with a pro-active approach with experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines, with a minimum level of supervision.

-Is a problem solver, is collaborative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

-Has a highly organised, planned and systematic approach.

-Has an understanding of contractual formation and various methods of measurement

-Can manage numerous activities across a number of projects simultaneously.

-Has an outgoing personality, is keen to deal directly with clients and possesses an acute commercial acumen

-Has a full clean driving license

-Has an ability to add value to the role and is motivational and interested in being part of a leadership team that will develop a positive and enthusiastic culture to the wider business
